Reporting to the Director for HR and Customer Services you will play a pivotal role within the council and across the whole HR Function. You will lead Council wide Workforce Development activity, as well as shaping and supporting, organisational change and improve service outcomes, by helping to create the right conditions to enable us be ready to meet the challenges ahead.

We are looking for an experienced HR leader with a deep understanding of service leadership, HR advisory activity and how this relates to learning and development, HR policy framework, collaborative industrial relations and who can quickly gain the trust of key stakeholders and staff. You will give confidence that you can lead our HR service operationally and strategically whilst maintaining and building upon progress already underway. You will be able to demonstrate a depth of experience to manage our HR function and lead an experienced mix of HR professionals. You will possess a good understanding of the context in which local authorities operate having worked within or alongside a public service organisation.

This role will have functional responsibility for Payroll, Pay and Reward, Systems and Performance, Recruitment, HR Support Services, & Health & Safety.
