Who are we?
Thames Water is the UK's largest water and wastewater company. We are an essential service and have operated throughout the Covid19 pandemic.

At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.

What you will be doing
In this role, you'll be leading our engagement on water asset risks with stakeholders across Asset Strategy and Planning, Operations, and Capital Delivery. You'll be responsible for developing and embedding good risk management practice through partnering and the delivery of training and comms.

The key responsibilities are:
  • Work with, advise and challenge the wider business, specifically operational, system planning, and capital programme teams, to consistently identify and assess risks to the delivery of our operational service and ensure appropriate actions are planned to minimise or remove risks
  • Develop and deliver training on best–practice risk management to build internal capability
  • Deliver effective, proactive, and targeted communications to build and enhance stakeholder engagement
  • Project management of key initiatives in the Integrated Asset Risk Programme
  • Leading and attending meetings with key internal stakeholders
  • Superuser on risk management tools to support implementation within the business
  • Develop and undertake assurance activities aimed at ensuring implementation of best practice risk management aligned with ISO55001 and ISO31000
We're looking for you to:
  • Take ownership, challenge, and ask questions where necessary
  • Have a practical understanding of risk and/or asset management principles or a demonstrated ability to learn and communicate new concepts quickly
  • Have a professional qualification to Institute of Risk management and/or Institute of Asset Management or equivalent
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to confidently influence and collaborate with a range of stakeholders from our operational teams through to our leadership community
  • Be adept in improving and implementing new ways of working
  • Be willing to travel to sites when required
What's in it for you?
This is an exciting role in a newly established team that's focused on ensuring we have a clear understanding of the short to long–term risks across our operational business. It's a great opportunity for you to lead the integration of and engagement on asset risk for water across Operations, Asset Strategy & Planning, and Capital Delivery and build and develop a network of stakeholders across the business.
Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service, and a wider benefits scheme.

We're proud of the positive ways of working we have adopted during the pandemic. We want to create a more flexible and dynamic environment so all our colleagues can thrive. For our office–based roles, we are moving to a hybrid approach where we will provide options around working from our offices, our operational sites, and home dependent on role/team/individual. This will be discussed during the assessment process.

Thames Water is a unique, rewarding, and diverse place to work. If you join our team, you'll enjoy fast–tracked career opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and unparalleled benefits. We're also proud to be an equal opportunity employer, Stonewall Diversity Champion, and Disability Confident Leader and we are a Times Top 50 Employer for Women.
