Head of Legal Services

Service Care Legal are currently working on behalf of a local authority based in Dorset who are seeking a Head of Legal to join them on a Locum basis. Please find below further details about the role and the opportunity.

ROLE: Head of Legal
LOCATION: Dorset / remote working
CONTRACT: 3 months ongoing
RATE: GBP550 to GBP650 per day

The Role

Lead and manage the legal team to develop and maintain an empowered and high quality staffing group with shared values and objectives
Oversee the day–to–day operations for departments including:
Property & Planning
Contracts & Procurement
Employment
Housing
Criminal and Civil Enforcement, Licensing,
Adult & Children's Law
Litigation
Information Governance
To act as the Deputy Monitoring Officer and provide advice and guidance on the councils' constitutional requirements
To have 5 direct reports and to personally give expert legal advice and support on complex matters The Person

A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with at least 5 years' PQE
It is essential to have previous management experience within a local authority
Experience of achieving results through influence, negotiation and effective advocacy
