We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Air Quality Programme Manager to lead, implement and review an Air Quality Action Plan/ Climate Change Agenda for one of our local government clients based in London RM1.

The Air Quality Programme Manager will lead and be responsible for projects which relate to air quality, which includes includes: The development of new initiatives that aim to improve air quality and, through formal negotiation with relevant stakeholders, facilitate their implementation; The review of existing practices that have the potential to impact on air quality and, where necessary, recommending significant changes to service provision.

They will work with a variety of stakeholders such as the GLA , internal Havering departments, other Local Authorities schools and businesses .
The role will involve environmental protection work including dealing with complaints, carrying out inspections, investigations and research of a complex nature and preparing reports and making recommendations.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable programme management skills and experience of delivering multiple environmental projects
  • Preferably qualified to degree/diploma level in Environmental Health or equivalent relevant qualification or experience
  • Conversant with legislation relating to Air Quality, pollution control and environmental protection.
  • Demonstrate current working knowledge of air quality in relation to environmental protection and development control.
  • Experience of working with elected Members and Senior managers is essential
  • Significant experience of environmental protection work including dealing with complaints, carrying out inspections, investigations and research of a complex nature and preparing reports and making recommendations.
  • Practical experience in the use of monitoring equipment and the production and presentation of technical and complex reports.

The role is based remotely working from home, but some site visits and meetings will be done face to face.
