Join our Schools and Communities Team!

The RHS is a national charity with a mission to inspire everyone to grow as it is vital to our wellbeing, the environment and the happiness of us all.

This is an exciting time to join our team and work with us to strengthen our support for schools and community groups across the UK. With a particular focus on the role that gardening plays to benefit wellbeing and the environment, we deliver a range of projects and initiatives and celebrate the amazing activity that supports communities to grow.

The role of Schools and Groups Programme Manager

Whilst this is a temporary role, you will have a valuable opportunity to further your knowledge, and use your skills and creativity to enrich the lives of the people that we work with. You will be taking over from a manager who has been in this role for a number of years, and joining a dynamic and growing team.

Leading the Campaign for School Gardening team of 15, your strong management skills will ensure the delivery of a joined up plan, to engage schools with plants and gardening at school and in their community. Through our work we will build and grow the connections that we have across the UK, by establishing and strengthening our networks, to share knowledge, skills and inspiration.

You will need to manage and support the team to develop new training courses for teachers and school staff, and be the lead on a marketing and communications plan for the wider Communities team (which includes the Campaign for School Gardening, Britain in Bloom and It's Your Neighbourhood programmes and national outreach activity) to increase involvement in our programmes.

You will also have a key role in the future development of our online presence for RHS Communities, to help us expand our reach and deepen our understanding of our audiences and grow our positive impact.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership qualities, exceptional project management skills and the ability to forge partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders, as well as a passion for education, communities and the natural world.
