Who we are

Through innovative eClinical solutions and services, Calyx turns the uncertain into the reliable, helping bring new medical treatments to market faster. With deep expertise in clinical development and more than 25 years of supporting trial sponsors and clinical research organizations (CROs), Calyx harnesses that intelligence and activates its potential to solve complex problems, deliver fast insights, and get new drugs to market every day.

About the role

As an Associate Business Analyst, Solutions Design, you'll be supported in providing platform–agnostic consultation to IRT clients on all aspects of system design. Enjoying a varied brief as part of a multi–disciplinary project team, you'll serve as a key technical interface between the client and Calyx IRT Client Services, your goal being to ensure that the detailed clinical protocols which typify our clients' trials (or 'studies') are, in each case, reflected in the technical solutions we provide.

Collaborating closely with client representatives, you'll work diligently to elicit, analyse and, where necessary, negotiate requirements, validating them and leading end–to–end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and requirements management. You'll play a key role in communicating these requirements to our software engineers, compiling detailed specifications' documents to enable the complexities of each study's requirements to be articulated effectively to the build teams.

As an Associate Business Analyst you can expect to encounter a very diverse group of colleagues and client representatives. The studies we support vary widely in scale and scope, are often located overseas and involve an extensive international dimension. You'll be encouraged to exercise autonomy in managing your schedule to enable work/life balance whilst maintaining relationships with those in different time zones.

What we offer

  • A fantastic support system and development plan specifically tailored to your level of professional expertise including an extensive introduction to IRT, accompanied by work shadowing and mentoring as part of a pathway to progression
  • We're a recognised leader in IRT, combining extensive experience with an award–winning solution. Join us as an Associate Business Analyst and help us build on this, delivering designs which contribute significantly in enabling our clients to genuinely improve patient health
  • A competitive salary and benefits package which includes 25 days' holiday per year (with the option to purchase more), pension scheme and a flexible benefits program.

What we'd like you to have

We're keen to look at people from a wide variety of backgrounds; previous experience in IRT – and the Life Sciences sector generally – is not essential.

Successful Associate Business Analysts within our IRT Client Services group typically demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of supporting projects, either formally as a Business Analyst / Solutions Designer / Requirements Analyst or performing any of these functions as an important part of a broader role
  • Ideally – knowledge of professional Business Analysis / Requirements Analysis / Solutions Design concepts and approaches
  • Really strong analytical and communication skills – able to distil complex information and articulate the key issues incisively and with confidence
  • A client–focused approach to work, building strong relationships and pulling out all the stops to meet and exceed client expectations
  • Empathy and sensitivity – able to work successfully with people from widely differing cultural backgrounds
  • Resourcefulness, versatility to work flexible hours and the ability to work proactively, exercising creativity to resolve problems
  • Initiative and self–confidence with the ability to proactively manage changing and evolving priorities whilst focusing on the detail
  • Ideally – a degree in a scientific or technical subject (Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computing, Engineering, etc.) or a related field

Calyx IRT

One of five product lines which comprise our business, Calyx's IRT randomisation and trial supply management (RTSM) solution is used in over 4,000 global clinical trials. A crucial system underpinning each trial (or 'study'), IRT efficiently and accurately controls patient randomisation (ensuring studies are unbiased), automates supply and re–supply of drugs under test and placebos, etc. to depots and trial sites (e.g., clinics and hospitals, etc.) and, most importantly, controls drug dispensation. The automation of supply and logistics management makes it possible for trials to include a higher number of patients and sites and to cover greater geographic regions, thereby helping to understand how proposed treatments perform across a broader slice of the population.

Set up in strict accordance with study protocols to ensure patient safety, Calyx's award winning IRT solutions can be adapted instantaneously according to changing requirements. This can significantly reduce the duration of trials, saving money and, critically, helping to speed life–changing new treatments to market – and therefore to patients – sooner.

A diverse team dispersed across our global footprint, the IRT Client Services group comprises scientific experts, process and systems' specialists, all of whom are focused on one goal: providing our clients with the most effective RTSM solution. Embracing complexity, their work focuses on supporting clients to start their trials as quickly as possible, optimising efficiency and ensuring that patients receive medication promptly throughout the trial lifecycle to allow safety and efficacy data to be collected as soon as possible.
