A new opportunity has now arisen for a paralegal to work in–house with the highly regarded EMEA Privacy Team based in London. This role will initially be offered as a 3 month Interim opportunity followed by a 12 month fixed term contract (FTC) for the right candidate.
This is a newly created role which, from a day to day perspective will require you to work closely with both the Privacy Manager and the Privacy Counsel, providing a combination of privacy compliance and legal support. You will be managed by the Group Data Protection Officer. You will deliver the role both remotely and in person depending on the needs of your colleagues.
Your main responsibilities will include:
People
* Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing and liaising with clients and colleagues at all levels;
* Liaising and working with other members of the GPO globally and locally.
Excellence
* Monitoring the Privacy, DPO and DSAR mailboxes into which privacy related legal and compliance queries are received;
* Privacy compliance related support including privacy screening questionnaire (PIA) and Data Privacy Impact Assessment trigger and review;
* Understanding and supporting the Records of Data Processing process;
* Collating and drafting agenda items and minute taking for key meetings including the monthly EMEA Working Group and Global Privacy Bi–weekly meetings;
* Reviewing and negotiating supplier data protection agreements which are required by the organisation to ensure applicable data protection laws are complied with including GDPR. This includes ensuring that supplier proposed amendments to theorganisations template can be accepted in accordance with our negotiation
* Reviewing and amending privacy notices;
* Conducting and circulating ad hoc privacy and legal research;
* Providing support to new data protection law implementations.
The Requirements
Ideally you will have qualified to at least LPC with a desire to pursue a legal or privacy career. Privacy experience is not a pre–requisite but would be helpful, as would knowledge of the GDPR. The successful candidate will be numerate with good IT skills and have a willingness to help support the lawyers in this busy legal team, which includes work of a UK and international nature.
Initial contract rate on offer up to GBP180 per day (via an approved Umbrella, PAYE rate available upon request)
