As a part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), BBSRC invests in world–class bioscience research and training on behalf of the UK public. We are the UK's largest public funder of research of the non–medical biosciences.


BBSRC's Operations and Resourcing Team is a small central team that brings together corporate operational activities and supports the BBSRC Chief Operating Officer in the leadership, management and delivery of operational matters that interface with UKRI corporate services teams, including HR, Finance, Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT), Risk Management, Governance and Assurance, Internal Communications, Health & Safety, Information Management, Commercial and Legal.


The team also manages BBSRC's engagement with UKRI change and Reforming our Business (RoB) activities and provides professional expertise and support in business change; project and programme management; and process/systems understanding, support and improvement.


We are seeking an Associate Director to lead the Operations and Resourcing team. Working closely with BBSRC's Chief Operating Officer, and acting as his deputy as required, you will ensure the smooth operational running of BBSRC, and that BBSRC develops and maintains a collaborative and effective two–way relationship with UKRI corporate services teams, and the UKRI Centre whilst also ensuring cross–BBSRC awareness and involvement as appropriate.


To succeed in this role, you will have:
* A degree level qualification (or equivalent) or can demonstrate significant relevant experience.
* Experience of translating organisational vision and strategy into operational requirements.
* Ability to maintain an active awareness of the wider strategic, organisational, and political (internal and external) context.
* Experience of operating effectively at a senior management level.
* Proven leadership skills, with an ability to motivate, empower and develop capability within a team.
* Leadership knowledge of the range of disciplines involved in a corporate services function, such as operations management, financial management, planning and analysis, delivery of significant projects, change management, business process improvement
* An appreciation of governance, risk management and assurance principles.
