Junior Embedded Systems Engineer

This is a brand–new role through expansion and investment to work as a Junior Embedded Systems Engineer alongside and supporting two experienced Senior Engineers Software / Electronics Engineers. Based in Bedford, you'll develop new and existing power systems in our R&D department. Come and learn from the best!

BASIC SALARY: Up to GBP55,000 dependent on your experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Junior / Graduate Embedded Systems Engineer – Embedded C

Working as part of an experienced and growing R&D team of eight; and supporting two senior engineers involved with systems engineering, software / firmware development and electronic design, you'll help to develop and implement embedded software for our power electronics systems. You'll also support on Electronic / PCB design. You can see that this role is quite varied and a good combination of NPD and re engineering to keep it interesting for you!

Our projects are related to batteries, battery power, lithium power packs and more broadly power systems, supplied mostly into the Automotive & Aviation sectors.

Our components & sub–assemblies are largely manufactured in China with our assembly, build and test done within the UK.

This opportunity would suit an engineer who is ready to push on further develop their career – working and learning from a very experienced R&D team.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Junior / Graduate Embedded Systems Engineer – Embedded C

?? Design, develop and test embedded software in Embedded C
?? PCB design and layout using Altium
?? Maintain, support, and update existing designs / systems
?? Debug new and existing designs
?? Materials / component selection
?? Support new product introduction (NPI)

YOUR BACKGROUND: Junior / Graduate Embedded Systems Engineer – Embedded C

?? Your Electrical / Electronic background will have covered PCB design and the development of Embedded C. This could be from experience or education.
?? You will be degree calibre in Electrical / Electronic / Software Engineering (or similar) or maybe even Computer Science

Experience of Microchip 16 and / or 32–bit devices would be advantageous – as would a strong working knowledge of PIC Micro–controllers and / or Arm Processors.
