Software Developer
Based in Edinburgh but remote working is possible with occasional travel to our offices.
REPORTING TO
Software Solutions Manager
JOB PURPOSE
This newly created role will assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of the applications that supports the firm. Working alongside the existing development team, the role includes designing, building, and implementing new applications; developing integration with existing applications; and performing day–to–day administration of the firm's internal and external Web portfolio. The individual will research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle.
The role requires the use of a variety of development languages and technologies. In addition to standalone external and internal applications, the role will involve development and integration of the firm's core applications. The successful candidate will ideally be graduates with 2:1 or above in a relevant technical discipline e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Development, or have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant technical role.
The role is Edinburgh based but remote working is possible with occasional travel to our offices.
CORE TASKS
* Provide development expertise to assist in the development of the firm's existing and planned systems.
* Provide support, fixes and upgrades to existing systems.
* Assist with future and existing development; including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
* Focus on providing development of an internal systems, and development support to enhance 3rd party systems.
* Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protect information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Innovative approach and a learning mindset
* Strong analytical and problem–solving abilities.
* Experience working both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
* Present a professional image to internal clients and other external organisations at all times.
SKILLS
Required
* The role requires proficiency in a variety of programming languages and technologies, including:
* C#
* JavaScript and other web technologies
* Database design including an understanding of schema create and relational database design
* Azure development
Desirable
* Experience building good user centred applications and an eye for UX\UI design
* Azure Event Hubs and Storage Queues
* Azure DevOps CI\CD methodologies, pipelines and deployments
* Agile methodologies
* MS Power Platform
* MS Blazor
