A market leading organisation who are at the forefront of their industry are looking to recruit a Technical Director to manage and develop the technical team. The company are going from strength to strength, priding themselves on innovation and the diversity of the company. This is a great opportunity for a Technical Director with knowledge of steel and structural principles who would like to progress and a develop a small team. The company are going through a significant period of growth and are looking to recruit for this position immediately.
Role & Responsibilities:
*Responsible for utilising in house and proprietary design software for the engineering design and specification of products and systems
*Produce construction specifications, calculations and details for the business and its distributors to relevant quality standards
*Manage a small team of design engineers
*Check principles, design calculations and drawings produced by others
*Attend design team meetings and projects sites to review design issues and inspect products in their constructed state, advising where applicable on any non–conformities and producing relevant reports
*Share involvement in the development of design tools and proprietary software
*Make recommendations for improvements to design procedures and other working practices that will lead to improved business performance KPI's
*Provide support, education, coaching, awareness training and Tool Box Talks to all levels of staff within the business and to distributors and clients with reference to product design and application, to improve understanding and ability
*Produce monthly technical reports for the business and accurately summarise all ongoing activities and developments
*Maintain the satisfaction of existing clients and develop customer relations
*Work with colleagues to develop a culture which addresses problems or non–conformity issues to enable positive improvements
*Maintain and develop knowledge of cold–formed steel products and systems
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
*Knowledge and experience of working with structural steel and/or cold–formed steel
*Working knowledge and experience using Eurocodes, British Standards, associated industry standards
*At least 5 years' experience in a structural design or building–products role, including at least 2 years spent within a senior position
*Have a sound knowledge of construction and structural design
*Experience of designing composite structural elements
*Experience of CAD, CAE, FEA, and/or BIM
*BSc, BEng, MSc, or MEng qualified in relevant engineering subject (Civil, Structural or Mechanical)
Benefits Package:
*A starting salary of GBP70,000 – GBP85,000 (depending on experience)
