We are looking for an experienced Safety and Health Business Partner to join our team, you will be working in a busy department giving guidance and advice to the various business areas across the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Agency based in Culham.
Your role will include some of the following responsibilities:
* Provide safety and health expertise to staff and contractors within the business area to ensure statutory compliance.
* Support the business through monitoring and measuring safety & health performance and recommend actions for improvement.
* With the relevant Department Manager conduct audits and inspections of the business areas.
* To manage the S&H incident reports relevant to business area, ensuring appropriate actions are assigned, cause analysis is completed and there is validation of closure.
* To deputise for other S&H Business areas as required.
* To support the regular review of developing and changing legislation and advise the UKAEA accordingly.
* To lead on S&H investigations including undertaking and completing Fact Finds and attending formal inquiries.
* To produce and present written and oral reports.
* Facilitate the implementation of policy and procedure in support of the UKAEA's ISO SHEQ certification.
* As a technical expert deliver training as required.
* To assist members of the business area in the production of safety related documentation e.g., Risk Assessments, Work Control packs, Safe Systems of Work including the monitoring of their suitability and effectiveness.
The Qualifications/Experience we are looking for:
* Ideally degree or equivalent in engineering or science related discipline
* NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent
* Technical/Graduate member of IOSH ideally Chartered Member.
* Experience of high–risk industry such as nuclear, oil & gas, chemical.
* Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and through the production of written reports at all levels in the organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships to be developed with people in a wide range of roles and levels of responsibility.
* Experience in carrying out audits and investigations.
