Technical Director– Larkfield, Kent

Due to continued expansion we are actively recruiting for a Technical Director to join us. You will be heavily involved in providing engineering and technical support on both new projects and live projects whilst supporting our teams and clients from "cradle to grave".

We are looking for a candidate that has solid technical skills as well as well developed interpersonal skills, as you will be leading a growing team as well as dealing with clients and consultants on a regular basis.

Some of the key elements to the role:

Provide design/ technical input and advise from project inception through to close out.

Liaise with project teams to understand requirements and provide correct level of support to meet programme and cost plan demands.

BIM process implementation and companywide accountability.

Input into tenders from a design and technical (buildability) point of view.

Sourcing and maintaining design houses to support design outputs required.

Build and maintain a world class technical team that differentiates blu–3 from their competitors.

Manage and mentor existing team members.

Building and maintaining excellent relationships with key influencers in the blu–3 markets.

Interact and contribute to senior leader team forums.

Prepare and review current procedures to ensure these align with the business function and processes.

Ensuring that the commercial risks to which the company is exposed are fully identified and evaluated in accordance with the risk management policies and procedures of blu–3. Input into risk register as and when risks are identified and arises.

Ensuring all activities are performed in an ethical manner while maintaining a competitive position for blu–3.

Maintaining awareness of relevant current business issues in the relevant industry sectors including changes in technology and markets to ensure blu–3 are leading.

Espousing and demonstrating by personal actions the core values of the company.

Your background

Solid technical knowledge of Civil Engineering type Projects.

Experience in leading a team of professionals – Design Managers, Civil & Structural Engineers, Technical Manager(s), Planning Manager & Civils Designers.

Experience in Design Management.

Experience in Engineering/BIM – Value/Option Engineering, design optimisation, temporary works design.

Technology/BIM – confident to take the lead on introducing technology to our Projects.

Client relationships – ability to lead discussions with Clients team, designers, architects and understand requirements.

Experience in Project controls/planning.

Solid commercial understanding – working to budgets & forecasting & reporting.

Maintain awareness of market conditions.

Review as appropriate IT systems to ensure colleagues are able to function efficiently.

Experience of developing reporting to identify true business costs and workload
