Job description
This role will join the Digital Adoption & Innovation team within DfT's Digital Service, building Digital, Data and Technology skills, whilst training to enhance people capability within Digital Service and more widely across DfTc.

The Department for Transport's (DfT) Digital Service is a leading–edge government capability that provides digital, data and technology (DDaT) to our users. We were established in September 2017 and deliver a blend of services, primarily to our ministerial department.

Service / User experience designers design the end–to–end journey of a service. This helps a user complete their goal and government deliver a policy intent. In this role, your work may involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of government.

Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to
• Will work with service managers and project / programme directors to develop design concepts
• May have responsibility across complex services
• Will help set strategic direction and embed good service and user experience design practice across teams
• Will ensure DfTc remains up to date with latest service and user experience design research and methodologies through horizon scanning and active participation in relevant cross government communities of practice.
• Will be our accessibility lead and also have accountability for raising awareness of and ensuring compliance with accessibility legislation across DfTc.

About You
To thrive in this role, you are an experienced designer who works with minimal support and can influence and mentor others. You will have worked in agile methodology within multi–disciplinary teams. You are a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail. You have demonstrable experience of leading teams and embedding user experience design across teams. Building and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues across the organisation is an important part of this role
