The Role

As Majestic Wine, Head of Facilities and Health & Safety you will be responsible for Facilities and Health and Safety management across the Majestic business our 200+ store estate, support office and distribution centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Facilities and Health and Safety management across the Majestic business our 200+ store estate, support office and distribution centre.
  • Ensure legal compliance and key stakeholder management with regulatory authorities and insurers on key matters, including Fire Risk Assessments and Certification, RIDDOR reporting, Emergency and Incident Planning
  • Responsible for the safe upkeep of the physical infrastructure across Majestic wine, including working in partnership with contractors to ensure all activities are completed in line with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures and industry best practice
  • Accountable for the Majestic H&S policy and responsible for the effective engagement across the business to ensure a safe environment for our colleagues and shopping environment for our customers.
  • EHS risk assessments and actions required
  • Providing regular Health and safety performance updates to the Board and identifying clear actions required to ensure compliance
  • Health and safety induction for new employees through the company's health and safety training program.
  • Provide guidance and support internally and externally using Health & Safety and facilities management expertise and qualifications
  • Driving improvements to the colleague experience in the Retail Stores, Distribution Centre and our Support Centre.
  • Delivering services to agreed budgets, reviewing operations to identify potential cost saving opportunities
  • Managing relationships with your customers and team, supervising and performance managing the internal team
  • Responsible for utility contracts and exploring options to reduce energy spend. Primary point of contact for all insurance claims.
  • Ensuring contractors and in–house teams deliver Service Level Agreements consistently
  • Seeking opportunities to simplify operations and reduce costs
  • Fulfil the role of the organisation's competent health and safety person providing leadership, expertise, strategic and practical advice for occupational safety across the business.

People Leadership and development

  • Coach, guide and lead the Facilities and H&S Site Teams partner with the business to continually improve the SHE agenda, behaviours and performance.
  • Carry out annual/mid year reviews with direct reports in line with Company Performance and Development policy and deadlines.
  • Manage employee claims procedure and interface with external parties
  • Ensure the Retail, Support Centre and Distribution Centre management teams are compliant with Majestic Wine Facilities, H&S process and policy.
  • Review core training / competency requirements against agreed training plans / frameworks.
  • In conjunction with HR/L&D, implement an annual training strategy mapped against business priorities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Deliver Improvement plans covering all operational KPIs within the roles scope accreos Facilities and H&S
  • Identify, participate and advise in improvement projects designed to maintain the quality of the physical environment and health & safety across the business
  • Generate and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in the area of Facilities, H&S, and coach and assist personnel to develop in this area.
  • Work in conjunction with HR and Leadership team to promote health & safety awareness across the company
  • Improve the general level of our store appearance supporting the strategic store proposition

Communication

  • Facilities and H&S KPI's updated monthly for Retail Operations Leadership Team and Board Level
  • Participate in Group Risk Management review processes
  • Liaise with Regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication of safety bulletins in conjunction with Site Leadership Teams and H&S Forums
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of H&S communication in the workplace and put forward recommendations for potential improvements.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Educated to degree level, and/or qualified to NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level: you have significant Facilities & Health and Safety experience, ideally gained in a Retail and/or Hospitality environment
  • Experience of successfully developing a Health & Safety first culture within a business that is aligned to and supports the business's strategic and operational goals
  • You possess an in–depth understanding of EU & the new UK Health and Safety Legislation & Rules
  • Relevant experience in maintaining and implementing Facilities and H&S Policies
  • Team leadership and contractor management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people, up to Board level
  • Previous FM/H&S experience with a strong knowledge of service delivery
  • Experience managing service providers from both a client and supplier perspective
  • Able to thrive in a flat hierarchy, fast paced culture with an agile innovative approach to the delivery
  • A hands on problem solving approach to issue resolution
  • BIFM membership
  • Various courses covering compliance, energy management, space management, sustainability
