Why is this role crucial for PGMBM?

PGMBM now requires an Associate to join our litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent management and preferably cross-border litigation experience with a keen interest in one or more of the following fields:
  • Environmental protection and Human rights; and
  • Data protection;
  • Consumer product liability;
  • Medical product liability;
  • Competition law.
We are looking for Associates with a range of experience at this level who are able to provide excellent support to the Senior Associates and Partners in order to implement various legal strategies and ensure that we have day-to-day control of our documentation. The opportunities will range from drafting documents to partaking in the management of case strategy and maintaining communications with external parties, clients and councils. This role provides the opportunity to help manage some of the high-profile cases we currently oversee. We are looking for candidates who are looking to grow in a firm where they will be given responsibilities in the day to day conduct of litigation cases. Role & responsibilities and core competencies

  • Work with the team on large, complex and fast paced contentious cases, including multi-jurisdictional disputes
  • Taking initial instructions from partners and senior associates and delegating to trainees and paralegal when appropriate
  • Conducting research, drafting and reviewing of documentation
  • Managing meetings effectively by setting clear agendas
  • Assist the firm in achieving its professional objectives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external counsel, expert witnesses, financial partners and other external parties
  • Supervise trainees and paralegals
  • Manage legal documentation and demonstrate effective case management
  • Contribute to PGMBM's business developments, including raising the firm's profile by partaking in marketing activities and contributing to the firm's publications
Requirements
  • Have an excellent academic record (minimum 2.1 equivalent degree)
    • Preferably commendations and distinctions in GDL/LPC/BPTC
  • NQ- 5PQE or equivalent with the majority of experience gained in an English litigation practice
  • Strong technical skills with experience in English litigation, preferably with experience in environmental protection, data protection, competition or consumer/medical product liability fields
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients' needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy
  • Excellent knowledge of the English civil procedure rules
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard
  • Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping
  • Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties
  • Demonstrate flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently
  • Have empathy and passion for the clients we represent
