Editor in Chief, Psychiatry, London

Salary: Negotiable

Global Research and Publications Company in Central London requires Editor in Chief to join the editorial team in their London office close to Liverpool Street.

As a Editor in Chief you must be a subject expert who can continue this mission via the publication of high–impact, practice–changing research, review, and provocative comment and opinion in mental health, providing a clear, independent perspective about the clinical advances and practice–changing research shaping mental health globally.

Some foreign travel is anticipated. This is not a remote role and you are required to attend the office (under Covid guidelines).

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with other divisions or departments within the company as appropriate.
  • Budgeting and monitoring expenditure and income for the journal; liaising with the finance departments in the UK, USA, and other regional offices to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Overall responsibility for setting and delivering the editorial strategy of Psychiatry, a print and online hybrid journal within the portfolio of journals.
  • Overall responsibility for the content and timely production of 48 Articles and 24 Reviews a year, plus Comments, Correspondence, Editorials, Insight and other copy as deemed appropriate for the Psychiatry journal.
  • Develop and maintain links with the mental health community globally to solicit high–quality research for the journal. Commission Comment content as necessary.
  • Maintain and liaise with the editorial advisory board, editorial development board, and other diverse expert groups and individuals, including people with lived experience.
  • Encourages team to build and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders globally.
  • Acts as a technical coach and mentor to others.
  • Individual will have line management responsibilities (for 2 people)

Requirements:

  • PhD in a directly relevant discipline.
  • Post–doc research experience or clinical experience in a relevant field.
  • Substantial editorial experience, at Editor or other senior level, with a good understanding of all aspects of the editorial process, journal production, and of running an editorial team.
