We are currently recruiting a Director level Group Purchasing Manager to work for a large manufacturing company based near Stourport.
This role is suitable for a candidate who is already a time served purchasing/procurement director looking for a new challenge or change
This newly created opportunity will involve overseeing all the provisions of a professional purchasing service. Control and monitor the purchase of all materials and services required by the companies in a timely fashion to ensure customer requirements and all other necessary deadlines / targets are met. Development and continuous improvement of the companies' procurement strategy of cost effective quality purchasing.
OTHER MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
To purchase a diverse range of goods and services, including information technology. To be responsible for the whole procurement cycle, supplier appraisal, drafting terms and conditions, preparation of invitations to tender, post tender negotiation and contract award to ensure fulfilment of customer requirements at best value for money.
Develop Procurement policy and procedure instructions and agree the same with the Board. Issue to all relevant personnel and ensure abidance accordingly.
Discuss with sales and contracts departments in drafting and reviewing of specifications to ensure a clear and unambiguous statement of customer and group needs.
Consider group purchasing power to take advantage of economies of scale where necessary.
To manage and provide guidance to subordinate staff, ensuring that work is adequately reviewed and checked, advice is given and, where necessary, training is initiated.
Discuss current practice at all stages of the procurement cycle including procedural and problem solving methods, and most importantly choice and use of supplier. Report to directors should you consider any change necessary.
Work with stock control personnel and factory managers to ensure availability of stock is maintained. Giving consideration to lead time with regards production requirements and outsourcing. Responsibility for purchased stock levels and general stock integrity.
Call and chair regular meetings with the procurement team and include any other relevant personnel. Supply minutes of the meetings to all attendees and include the Directors.
Report regularly to the Directors on work status and all issues of significant importance and/or strategic concern. Record and report on all relevant matters on a quarterly basis by way of calling and chairing a meeting, setting an agenda, arranging and distributing minutes taken therein.
Maintain and update suppliers approved and select list, in line with the quality standard and utilising an agreed due diligence procedure which provides for full supplier vetting.
To gain a full understanding and command over the Companies computer system in the areas that relate to your specific role.
To provide full job cover for subordinates in their absence.
Monitor and control all relevant procedures to ISO 9000
Any other duties requested by management.
The right candidate must be fully experienced in a full procurement process for a large manufacturing SME, along with a track record of setting and hitting impotent KPIs
Already be a Director level Procurement/Purchasing Director
CIPS qualified is essential
Salary GBP65,000 – GBP80,000 pa
