MERJE are working with a large 'household name insurance business who have an exceptional reputation in the market, assisting in the search for a 'Head of Model Validation'. This is an exceptional opportunity for candidates to work at a group level and enjoy exposure across the business and it's international territories.
The successful candidate will own the second line validation process, working as part of a team to identify, measure and challenge financial risks across the group.
Tasks will include:
- Development of model validation scope and plan, working with third parties to deliver results.
- Collaborate with the Head of Financial and Actuarial Risk, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Actuary and Head of Capital on wider review of methodology and assumptions in respect of internal models
- Work with Senior Business Leaders to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report financial risks across the group, implementing controls and monitoring processes.
- Present findings and suggestions at appropriate risk committees.
- Support the delivery of model validation scope and model changes and plan against a range of trigger or changes across the group.
- Work closely with the first line to help identify and manage model risks, coaching and sharing knowledge.
- Monitor and report on all material validation findings across the Group to the relevant committees and boards.
Requirements:
- Experienced qualified actuary
- Detailed knowledge of general insurance regulation and operations.
- Experience of writing board/committee papers and strategy documents
- Ability to work independently and proactively as well as supporting a team
- Strong oversight, influencing and persuasion skills
- An ability to react quickly and decisively to problems once identified
