The College of Science and Engineering is one of three Colleges across the University of Edinburgh, and plays a key role in shaping our institution through upholding a values–led approach to teaching, research and innovation. With nearly 4,000 staff working in 7 Schools across the College, the Vice–Principal and Head of College role offers genuine opportunity to set direction, motivate and lead across a portfolio of local, national and international academic priorities in a world–class future–focused University. They will hold responsibility for the academic leadership and resource management of the College, including a budget of over GBP335m, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, work collaboratively to contribute to the overall achievement of the University of Edinburgh, supporting the institution to realise its ambitions.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced academic leader who brings an inclusive, collaborative approach and can evidence values–based leadership. They will have a strong track record in teaching or research in a relevant discipline, and be able to influence and persuade others. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the appointed candidate will have demonstrable ability to operate at the most senior levels of the University, contributing to institutional direction as well as leading the College.
