We have recently been retained by a key client as they look to recruit a newly–created Head of Production position for their facility, just north of Birmingham.
Client Details
Our client is a leading manufacturer, specialising in a high volume plastic product to a variety of industries. Having enjoyed a sustained period of growth (including the last 18 months) that has seen them nearly reach capacity, the business is now looking for a capable Head of Production to proactively develop a team of c.200 manufacturing staff and the site efficiencies. With additional growth expected, this role could quickly evolve to include a wider operational remit depending on the early success of the individual.
Description
Overall responsibility for a large Manufacturing team of c.200, including Shift Managers
Provide strategy for all manufacturing operations on site
Engagement of operations teams in business values and objectives
Design and implementation of change based on data and root cause (i.e. risk assessments, root cause analysis, 5S, best in class bench–marking & reapplication)
Drive CI performance including plant efficiency, OEE, Near miss, product flow compliance
Leading and facilitating improvement activity using Kaizen and DMAIC approach
Identify and implement continuous improvement activities to improve process flows, cutting inefficiencies out of the production line and driving down takt time.
Make necessary amendments to production schedule
Engage, mentor and develop the team's capability
Interpret individual and operation–based performance statistics to drive KPIs and develop Shift Managers
Make sure procedures are compliant with standards for Quality, Environmental and H&S. Profile
Ideally degree qualified (B.Eng, B.Sc)
Background in high–volume industrial manufacturing and production
Excellent grasp of lean methodologies, Six Sigma Green Belt advantageous
Capable of compiling training and development plans for all manufacturing supervisors and managers
Collaborative in approach
Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques would be advantageous
Excellent communicator and natural leader
Solid understanding of commercial side of manufacturing
Committed and tenacious leader with resilience to drive for success in a challenging and fast changing environment Job Offer
Salary for the successful Head of Production is from GBP55,000 – GBP70,000 DOE
