TQR are looking for a Head of Operation required for one of our Manufacturing clients in mid Devon. If you have extensive leadership experience within engineering or manufacturing, please get in contract today.
Our client is a market leader in what they design and manufacture and due to internal movement, a sought–after role has become available. The ideal candidate will come with inspiring leadership experience, but also be an empathetic strong leader who wants to be involved in daily operations whilst getting a job done right.
You will sit above production, engineering, quality and planning where you will be result and profit driven whilst being responsible for the continuous improvement and development of operation and its supply chain.
Key areas to the role
* Empower, lead and develop the Production, Engineering & Purchasing teams
* Actively support the implementation of Lean processes
* Lead the scoping and successful delivery of the Operational Development Plan linked to agreed objectives as well as lead the implementation & development of Lean manufacturing & supply chain
* Develop Managers, Team Leaders in line with business requirements
* Improve the Quality and Service performance of Operations
* Promoting and enforcing safety in the workplace
* Overseeing manufacturing and production processes
* Overseeing site headcount and allocation plan for each section
* Working closely with customer service team to delivery on time in full performance in line with group targets.
* Creating and execute daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules
* Lead activity across different sections to improve changeover times
* Monitoring productivity rates, measure OEE and quality control standards
* Delivery training plan for site and coach operations team
* Translating the company's strategic plans into defined operational plans
* Defining performance management KPI's to monitor operational success against overall business objectives
* Reporting to the board on operation activities towards business goals
* Preparing budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports as needed
* Establishing a culture of continuous business improvement
* Working with department heads to maximise employee effectiveness, staff motivation and identifying/organising appropriate training where required

Experience required
* Experience as Operations Director or Manager Required,
* Lean Manufacturing & Logistics Expert, Strong Project Management and Change management skills, Knowledge of CNC, and Assembly operations is advantageous, Natural facilitator and able to prioritise and work to timescales, Positive and professional attitude
Personal characteristics :
* Must have energy, enthusiasm and commitment and be able to influence others, Ambitious with desire to succeed to what you do, Capable of taking responsibility, showing initiative and leading a team
* An excellent team player but able to work successfully as an individual
* Well–structured and self–disciplined
* Must be willing to travel, sometimes overseas
* Natural leader and motivator, eager to take ownership and drive success. Strong analytical skills. Capable of reporting clearly and concisely at senior level, stringent approach to data accuracy and timeliness.
Ideal qualifications
Degree in Operations or Business Management (Preferred), IOSH or NEBOSH (Desirable)
