A well–known travel organisation in Hampshire is losing its Procurement Director after a significant period of time.
Reporting to the VP of Procurement & Supply Chain, this presents the organisation with the opportunity to appoint a new Procurement Director to take the team and function to the next phase following a tough 18 months trading during the Covid crisis.
If you like BAU, tight processes and aren't a huge fan of leadership, this role is definitely not for you! This is a role that is going to challenge and stretch you but provide immense job satisfaction when done right.
Top line information:
GBP0.5bn spend across all category areas
Team of 30 made up of a Senior Procurement Manager, Category Managers and Buyers.
Route to VP/SLT in a number of years
Help to increase Sustainability footprint
The role of procurement in this organisation has been slowly changing over time and would still consider itself to be in a period of development.
Bar some areas, Procurement has now taken over every area of purchasing and contract management when in its infancy, just managed F&B and hotel spend.
There are however 3 operating companies in the group as this role presents a real opportunity to engage the rest of the organisation and perhaps leverage the scale rather than remain UK focused.
Sustainability is a key focus for the organisation moving forward having appointed a Sustainability Procurement Manager last year who has focused on single use plastics and more latterly ethical sourcing and animal welfare.
If environmental impact is important to you, you can make a real difference here as the company is at the start of their journey.
This is not an organisation that is built on its Supply Chain; you must be accessible and be able to engage and communicate at all levels. This isn't a role where you can devise and deliver your 5 year strategy. You must listen to the needs of the business and be organisationally aware at all times.
You will also need to demonstrate solid leadership as part of your role. This is a team of 30 high performing individuals that will not need hand holding but will look to you for strategic guidance and support.
Yes the business suffered a downturn due to Covid and some tough decisions were made at the time.
Procurement remained strong and the customer demand is certainly there. There are risks to every role but from a cash perspective, this organisation is solid and from an opportunity perspective, its a risk well worth taking to advance your career and job satisfaction.
Procurement Heads is working exclusively on this vacancy.
Shortlisting ends on 19th September
