Job Purpose
The Technical Operations VP will work within a fast moving, industry leading team to acquire, develop, construct and operate a range of renewable energy assets that include wind, solar, grid and storage, as well as provide creative strategic input into future growth and operational efficiency. Key objectives are:
The position will report to the Director – Technical. They will support the whole Technical Operations department as well as working independently to support the Investment Team and the Financial Operations Team.
They will ideally have a Global technical specialism. The ideal candidate will be an engineering graduate with previous practical experience of renewable energy including wind and solar.

About this role

Deliver on commitments to our clients
Technical due diligence during acquisition of projects, portfolios and development platforms
Overseeing and optimizing development platform performance
Overseeing construction of assets where applicable
Optimise project performance during the ownership phase
Maximise exit value (for time–limited fund assets)
Assist with fundraising

Key Responsibilities
Assist in technical diligence for the Investment Team to assess and execute renewable project investments
Operational management and record keeping for investments in operation and construction
Oversight of Project Asset Management and other service providers
Integration of newly acquired assets into the Renewable Power group's (RPG) operational monitoring systems
Understanding the economic, commercial and reputational drivers of our investments in order to identify risks and opportunities – implementation of solutions to mitigate risk and protect returns
Oversight of platform assets to ensure they meet and exceed expected development milestones
Manage and monitor key operational / technical assumptions in financial modeling utilized to screen and make investment decisions
Assist in and lead the development of budgets for existing projects including the report creation and maintenance
Maintain key data from potential and actual investments to enhance future assumptions / budgeting as well as elevate the overall institutional market intelligence.
Assist in the development of the RPG strategic approach to operations management of assets to maximize project performance
Liaise with the Financial Operations team to ensure the proper information is available for effective financial reporting
Communicating asset performance effectively to Senior Management, investors and the RPG
Maintain a network to assist in the sourcing of quality future investments
Preparation of assets for divestment
As we are a small team the responsibilities will be broader than outlined above.

Knowledge/Experience:
Deep understanding and experience in wind and/or solar technical due diligence, wind and/or solar resource assessment, wind and/or solar farm operations
Strong academic background in Engineering or Science with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential. Proficiency in Access, Matlab, R, Tableau, or other data–reduction code would be ideal.
Experience of working as an Independent Engineer in the renewable energy sector
Highly rated in their career to date with strong experience in the renewable energy industry
Previous experience of working in a transaction environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Able to manage workload autonomously and effectively
Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly, entrepreneurial, team environment
Strong commercial awareness, and the ability to apply commercial judgment to technical issues
Previous experience of managing independent engineer, O&M providers or other project level contracts
Strong self–learning skills and comfortable with autonomy – inquisitive, detail–oriented, self–motivated
The role involves extensive travel to sites and operations organisations
