We have a brand new opportunity for a Head of Engineering to lead our fantastic team of multi–disciplined Regional Engineers (Mechanical and Electrical). In this role, you will have the scope to define, develop and implement our company engineering strategy, lead continuous improvement and ensure compliance with standards, as well as provide guidance on business critical projects. About the role

Reporting to our Director of Business Excellence you will work proactively with multi–disciplined colleagues in Business Excellence and Operations to ensure an integrated and compliant approach to Engineering across operations and capex/non capex projects.

Other elements to the role include:

*

Leading a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, providing ad–hoc coaching to support their fulfillment of their roles and developing future potential.

*

Identifying potential projects (capex & maintenance) and contributing to mid term and capital pipeline planning.

*

Ensuring accurate early feasibility cost estimates for identified projects

*

Supporting the development of engineering tender documentation

*

Providing and maintaining resources for engineering support to all implemented projects and/or assisting the Capex Project Management team to deliver projects across all regions.

*

Ensuring demonstrable legal compliance and best practice of engineering standards across the region

*

Continuously challenging the safety performance and engineering standards of the plant and our employees.

*

Communicating to senior managers where significant engineering issues occur and informing them of the remedial containment or countermeasures that are applied.

*

Working with the area managers to ensure equipment analysis identifies a rolling replacement programme

*

Being involved as a member of SteerCo and Project Governance teams communicating progress to a wider internal/external audience of stakeholders.

What will you bring?

*

A professional Engineering background and/or Chartered Engineer, educated to Degree level or equivalent.

*

Significant experience of Mechanical and Electrical engineering design, ideally from a construction materials or materials handling business environment.

*

Experience of delivering engineering solutions and large engineering projects within a complex Engineering/Construction business.

*

Ability to communicate concisely and with impact – verbally and in writing – across all levels of an organisation, build effective working relationships and influence senior level stakeholders.

*

Be able to manage multiple and conflicting priorities, be highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities.

*

Have a high attention to detail, with the ability to think creatively, strong results orientation and with personal values to succeed

*

Ability to travel extensively across the UK to visit our sites.
