KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Office – Supervision and Controls oversight

  • Provide support and training to Sales & Trading (S&T) for all Operational Risk and Control requirements.
  • Develop and maintain S&T Operational Risk processes, controls and reports, ensure Sales & Trading Desk Heads have visibility of key controls impacting their business and risks.
  • Assist S&T to capture/document operational risk incidents and any associated actions – help to ensure FO–owned actions are resolved in a timely manner
  • Support S&T in their assessment of risk and controls (RCSAs) across each FO Desk
  • Review and assess key hand–offs with support functions to assess whether the correct data is being captured by the Front Office (trade execution and booking), for consumption downstream and/or externally.
  • Develop and maintain the MUSE Supervision Dashboard and associated reporting
  • Oversight and monitoring of the MUSE Supervision framework
  • Develop and maintain the MUSE S&T (Sales and Trading) Controls Dashboard
  • Agree KRI thresholds between Business and Control/MI Owners
  • Administration of the MUSE S&T Risk and Controls forum
  • Report on FO Risks and Control oversight, to both 1st and 2nd line functions/forums as required
Front Office – Product Development
  • Analyse new activity requests and work with support functions to screen and evaluate, analysis, design and develop and test.
  • Use effective network to collaborate across cross–functional teams within the Group to promote timely decision making
  • Exercise cross–divisional governance to achieve a consistent and transparent approach to product development
  • Define, execute and implement strategies to boost product development efficiency
  • Produce and distribute MI to various management committees and stake holders
Front Office – Regulatory adherence

  • Identify key areas of regulatory risk for the MUSE S&T Business and ensure that processes/controls are in place to monitor adherence
  • Review and challenge regulatory control MI ( produced by Support Functions and ensure that this achieves both risk and control oversight requirements for Sales & Trading Heads
  • Help oversee the development and implementation of regulatory initiatives impacting Sales and Trading – participating in technical design, tracking, escalation and control requirements in S&T.
  • Develop strong working relationship with Compliance and Financial Crime teams to ensure 'best in class' support models for S&T.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
Essential:
  • Ability to quickly understand the local nuances regarding systems and internal relationships between departments
  • Knowledge of risk management and risk mitigation approaches
  • Firm grasp of current regulatory requirements
  • Pragmatic and practical approach to the implementation and application of regulations
  • Good knowledge of operational risk practices
  • Good knowledge of Secondary Markets Business practices
  • Good knowledge of Derivative products and trade flows
  • Previous experience facing off to, or directly supporting, a Secondary Markets Business
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of data aggregation and MI creation from low level data; trend analysis
  • Compliance experience would be useful
  • Experience as part of a FO regulatory implementation project.
  • Front Office Supervision or Controls knowledge/experience useful
  • Front Office exposure through previous roles (in Business or as part of a Business facing team)

PERFORMANCE AND DUTIES

The role holder will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity's performance framework and process with relevant input obtained from the dual hatting entity as relevant.

As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and emended in consultation with the role holder. The role holder will carry out other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.

MANAGING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
  • The role holder will have responsibilities for both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
  • The role holder will be required to perform their duties and responsibilities on an entity neutral basis, without favour.
  • The role holder is required to follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and to maintain the legal entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUS.
  • Working terms are dictated by functional mandates, the terms of the Dual–Hat Arrangement Agreement in place between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc and any other relevant agreements entered into between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
  • The role holder will have responsibility for identifying and resolving where there may be a difference or conflict in needs between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, escalating to their manager where required.
