The Head of Quality will direct the strategic and operational performance of the Quality team in the DNA thereby ensuring business efficiency, customer satisfaction and a good reputation. This exciting position will encourage a culture of excellence with continual improvement and provide to challenge current practices to drive consistency and accelerate improvements across all parts of the Alliance (government and industry), where necessary.
With a budget of over GBP30 billion, the Dreadnought Alliance is one of the most important programmes for defence of the United Kingdom and the nations standing in the global world–order today! As well as being responsible for product quality, the Head of Quality will also be responsible for first establishing, and then maintaining the Alliance's business management system (BMS). This dynamic post will be responsible for providing principal professional quality advice and support to the Alliance Management Team. It will be responsible for driving consistency through the BMS and Engineering Quality environments and act as the professional focus for Business / Quality Management within the Alliance.
Due to the sensitive nature of this project, this role is open to sole UK Nationals only.

Internal Applicants: Internal Applicants will be eligible for full relocation expenses
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this post will include, but not be limited to, the following:
* Work collaboratively with the Whole Boat Deputy Chief Engineer and Assurance team in delivering assurance reporting for senior leaders
* Working with the Barrow based Principal Naval Overseer's organisation and the Defence Quality Assurance Field Force to oversee product assurance and issue/risk reporting processes to deliver timely and accurate assessments/assurance of the full range of supply and manufacturing activities for the Dreadnought class submarines to enable and ensure quality reporting and drive continuous improvement
* Develop and embed a Quality performance evaluation framework for consistent application
* Draw out and synthesise the key insights from both quality assurance (QA) and quality control activities across the parties and Alliance to
(i) Understand status and impact of quality performance on the Dreadnought programme and
(ii) Identify areas for learning and improvement
* Establish and maintain a single coordinated view of QA activities across the Alliance and so co–develop an annual assurance audit schedule with Head of Assurance (reflecting principles of Alliance models)
* Maintain the BMS for the Alliance, embedding a culture of continuous improvement
* Establish Dreadnought KPIs, then manage, monitor and deliver them to the wider SDA quality working group and feed into the SDA Safety Committee
* Develop and ensure the delivery of quality management plans for the programme that address the issues, risks and opportunities, including, product assurance through Inspection & Test Plans, detail Product Verification planning, auditing and continual improvement.
* Provide Quality Assurance advice and independent audit capability to the engineering teams for a portfolio of projects through design, structure, testing & commissioning phases
* Provide appropriate quality engineering input into the tender and contract award process, including review of the QA, materials and process safety engineering aspects
What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
* Hold a relevant Level 6 (or higher) qualification or will demonstrate equivalent experience
* Be a Chartered Quality Professional (CQP) and Member of the Chartered Quality Institute or have demonstrable equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
* Have significant technical and Quality Assurance experience across more than one discipline and environment
* Have experience in the leadership and development of business management systems
* Have experience of providing technical advice at a senior level and delivering successful engineering outcomes in multidisciplinary projects
It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
* Have proven experience working in a large, complex, high hazard project environment
* Possess strong leadership and team management skills
* Be a lead auditor and trained in at least one of ISO (phone number removed), 45001 and ISO 27001
