Queen Mary University of London
Location: Flexible working with office base on Mile End campus, London, UK
Salary information: c. GBP80,000 per annum, depending on candidate's experience
This is a unique opportunity to lead the Development and Alumni Engagement activities of a leading Russell Group university with a difference.
Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK's leading research universities, committed to excellence in research and teaching combined with inclusion and improving social justice.
Throughout our history social justice and improving lives has been the centre of our mission. We support world–leading research and education across disciplines and attract students from over 160 countries, who join many students who come from our local communities. We are very proud to attract students under–represented at universities like ours. Our research improves the lives of people all over the world. We embrace being part of one of the world's great cultural and economic centres, and we are firmly embedded in our local London communities. We also have a presence in China, India, Pakistan, Paris, Malta, Malaysia and the US. Our network of 180,000 alumni live and work all over the world, and many of them continue to support their university, through philanthropy, volunteering and mentoring current students.
To help us achieve our mission and continue opening the doors of opportunity through our research, education and community engagement, we are seeking a new Director of our Development and Alumni Engagement directorate. The new Director will design and drive a strategy to increase our philanthropic and alumni relations efforts and improve outcomes. It will require an exceptional person who will bring a fresh perspective, approach and can–do attitude, to build up our operations and activities, and turn our ambitions into reality.
Working closely with the Principal, Vice–Principals and Senior Executive Team, you will identify and engage existing and prospective donors and alumni in the work of the University, and deepen their interest and support. You will bring a strong track record of working with donors to deliver successful income generating activities and an innate ability to bring multiple stakeholders together towards achieving a common goal. Your confidence and collaborative leadership style will inspire confidence in your efforts and those of the team, as will your experience of successfully navigating and working across complex organisations. In return, you will be supported by a talented and committed team, and a senior leadership team who understand what it takes to achieve excellence.
If you are excited to learn more about this exceptional opportunity and a chance to make a real impact, please contact our recruitment partners at Richmond Associates or visit to download more information.
Closing date for applications: 10AM ON THURSDAY, 16 SEPTEMBER 2021
Queen Mary University of London aims to be the most inclusive university of our kind. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority candidates.
