Oakwood is a Specialist Post 16 College, set across three campuses in Devon, Cornwall and South Glos. that offers learning programmes for young people with SEND whose needs cannot be met in a general FE College or sixth form provision.
We deliver highly individualised study programmes that focus on developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours that young people need to become more independent and access employment opportunities. Our learners study a curriculum built around the outcomes in their EHCPs and enjoy a personal development journey through a programme that includes personal growth, vocational learning, Duke of Edinburgh and Work Experience.
Our new Yate Campus, situated in our brand new campus in South Glos. is due to open in September. Under the management of our new Head of Campus we would invite applications for the post of Deputy Head of Campus from qualified teachers with experience of leadership in either a SEND or mainstream setting. Ideally, they will also have experience in the role of SENCO or associated experience.
As a key member of the College Middle Leadership team, the Deputy Head of Campus will be responsible for supporting the Head of Campus with designated operational and strategic responsibilities. They will support the Head of Campus with activities such as timetabling, leadership of teachers and support staff and supporting students. They will also have responsibility for reviewing the quality of education, leading extracurricular activity, and personal development, behaviour and welfare, and be a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. In the early opening of our campus, the Deputy Head will also be the nominated SENCO.
At Oakwood we recruit like minded people that have unflinchingly high aspirations for all young people that study at Oakwood and high expectations of behaviour for them within their own context.. We expect unflinchingly high expectations of an employees own behaviour and professional conduct and a willingness to actively support colleagues in this way.
In return, we guarantee a role where no day is the same, you have access to a wide range of training and CPD activities to help you to be the best practitioner you can be, and a family of staff that support and value your contributions.
