We have an exciting opportunities for 3 Project Manager's to join our team based at Scouts HQ at Gilwell Park, London. You will join us on a full–time basis on either a Permanent, Maternity Cover and Fixed Term contract working 35 hours per week, and in return, we will offer you a competitive salary of GBP35,354 per annum (inclusive of Outer London Weighting).
It's an exciting time to join the Project Management Office (PMO) at the Scouts. The PMO supports portfolio, programme, and project management at Scouts Head Quarters.
Our work helps to deliver our ambitious Skills for Life strategy, and together we are delivering projects which will helps to make a significant difference to over 150,000 volunteers and 400,000 young people across the UK who are members of the Scouts.
The Project Manager Role:
As Project Managers, we support the delivery of programmes and projects, which help deliver our strategy and key operational areas. Project Managers work hand–in–hand with the Senior Responsible Owners and Sponsors of the programmes / projects that they are assigned to. They ensure that the programmes / projects are governed and managed effectively and in accordance with the Scouts' project management (P3M) framework.
The PMO also serves as the centre of excellence for Scouts' P3M ramework. Project managers in the PMO contribute to maintaining and continuing to improve the P3M framework. They also support staff in other departments who are involved in programme and project governance and management by providing best practice guidance, training and advice on programme and project governance and management.
The PMO operates across a multi–disciplinary environment, requiring Project managers to be adaptable and responsive as well as excellent planners and forward–thinkers. The role works across many of the teams across Scouts, as well as providing opportunities to work closely with our volunteers.
What will you be doing in the Project Manager role?
– Lead and facilitate the scoping, design and delivery of digital and technology projects
– Agree project objectives,benefits and plans for delivering these with your project stakeholders
– Define project tasks and manage resource requirements accordingly
– Lead on the creation, ownership and maintenanceof project appropriate documentation
– Develop and manage project schedules and progress updates
– Develop other required project documentation such as RAID logs and finance sheets
– Secure adequate resource allocation for programmes and projects from line managers
– Support Senior Responsible Owners and Sponsors with governance of programmes and projects
What we are looking for in our Project Manager:
– A proven record in delivering and managing complex projects, which require engaging multiple stakeholders
– Experience of managing risks and issues and raising these to the appropriate boards
– Experience of working in a non for profit or membership organisation with significant involvement of volunteers
– Experience working as part of a team, in a matrix team structure, and of leading and motivating project teams
– Experience of managing change and supporting with change management planning
– Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management, including classic frameworks like Prince or Agile
– Ability to use project management techniques, tools and software
– Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
– Qualification in project management/IT methodologies (Prince 2, Agile, Lean, ITIL) is preferable but not a requirement
