PROGRAMME MANAGER
BASED NEWTON AYCLIFFE COUNTY DURHAM

Based in County Durham North East England, ESS' client is a highly respected global semiconductor and optoelectronics business. They are at the forefront of developing opto and III–V materials and products, supporting next generation VCSEL 3D technologies, consumer electronics, military and life science products and applications.
The parent group has made a huge investment into growing a III–V, GaaS and Indium Phosphide fab in Newton Aycliffe. They are experiencing a significant ramp both in terms of production and people, and now need make the key hire of a Programme Manager.

Reporting into the Senior Site Management Team, the Programme Manager will play a key coordinating role across the local business, supply chain, end customer and other group manufacturing sites. Internal customers include Process Engineering, Sales, Quality, Operations, Design and R+D. This role will be overseeing NPI/NPD work for a new client and the technology transfer in and out of products and materials. You will play the lead role in helping drive and execute the programme and fall out projects. Key responsibilities are likely to include:

Translate customer requirements into project deliverables.
Define the necessary project resources to be managed .
Manage the programme/project team required to deliver the project as a matrix manager across the required functional groups.
Determine appropriate reporting for internal and external (customer driven) requirements.
Develop appropriate product lifecycle management system and tools and constantly improve them. Monitor project costs.
Own and manage product lifecycle gate reviews through both internal and customer related processes.
Identify key risks and issues – provide solutions and/or mitigation actions as appropriate, where this is not possible escalate in the organisation to resolve.
Own and manage maturity matrix documentation.
Maintain and manage customer interactions e.g. meetings, action lists.
Maintain and manage communication with customer project management, essential to build a good rapport.
Communication of project plans, PCN, 8D reports and other customer related material.
Co–ordinate and manage customer communication with other team members.
The relevant candidate is educated to minimum Degree calibre (Masters / PhD preferred) in an Engineering or Scientific discipline. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager, Project Engineer, Programme Manager or Programme Director used to driving and leading bespoke engineering or complex high tech manufacturing projects and programmes. This will suit candidates from other Semiconductor, Optoelectronic, MEMS, Space Electronic, Defence Electronic and possibly Automotive Electronic backgrounds.
