Financial Controller – Salary up to GBP60k (plus relocation if required of GBP8k)

The role will require the successful candidate to work on site most days, however there may be flexibility in time to work occasional days from home.

Our client requires a Financial Controller to provide 'hands on' support within their UK Division. The position offers a broad scope of responsibilities and the opportunity to add real value to the operations of this important contract. The key aspects of the role are:

To undertake and manage all financial aspects of the Cumbria PPP contract at both SPV and Operator levels
To undertake and manage all statutory, client, funder and regulatory reporting and compliance with the contract
To measure financial performance and report against PPP Project Agreements
Provide support to the Divisional Finance team, Head of Finance Planning and Analysis and the wider UK finance teams
Support the consolidation and provision of insightful reports on financial and non–financial performance as part of the monthly and quarterly reporting cycle across the business
To identify Continuous Improvement opportunities, to increase profit and/or decrease costs
Assist the Management Accountant in transitioning to the position of Finance Controller, giving support, training and advice
Support the transition, there will be a shared responsibility of workload which will increase the flexibility of the Finance Department and assist the transitionMain Responsibilities

Preparation of month–end accounts (includes approval of invoicing, processing of cash payments and journals), forecasts, cashflow forecasts and budgets including the provision of insightful variance analysis.
Preparation and submission of the following Divisional reports in accordance with Group requirements:
Monthly business performance reporting
5 Year Business Plan
Annual Budget
Quarterly business forecasting (QMR)
Provide support to the Budget holders, which includes regular performance reviews and developing new and existing innovated ideas for Continuous Improvements.
Monthly Cashflow & Balance Sheet reporting & analysis
Full Project Bank Account(s) responsibility – funding of Reserve Accounts in–line with Operational Model / Bank Reconciliations
Calculation & submission of quarterly VAT Returns
Provide monitoring of cost/revenue drivers.
Preparing financial data associated with Contract Variations and other financial contractual matters
Preparation of monthly/bi–annual and annual reporting to the Local Authority in line with the PFI contract.
Preparation of monthly/quarterly submissions to the Funders while assisting with the update & analysis of the 6 monthly Operational Model prior to submission to the Funders
Preparing financial data associated with Contract Variations and other financial contractual matters
Preparation of monthly/bi–annual and annual reporting to the Local Authority in line with the PFI contract.
Support capital expenditure requests and associated business cases
Managing the Full Life Plan (Lifecycle Capital) – monthly analysis, partnering the Project Managers with regular forecasting
Ad hoc tasks as and when required.Experience, Education & Qualifications

Essential

Qualified Accountant

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
Possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to communicate to all levels.
Meticulous attention to detail and working to tight deadlines
Driving licence and mobility to work away from home (travel expenses will be reimbursed)Preferable

Previous experience working in a PFI accountancy–based role would be desirable.
