Role of Chief Engineer – Mechanical
A rapidly expanding , cutting–edge , clean–energy technology company with a strong reputation for the engineering and manufacturing of their world class , bespoke , products and systems , are seeking a Chief Engineer to take a lead role in the creation , development and production of innovative product designs
The ideal candidate will have a depth of knowledge in all areas of mechanical engineering with experience leading large technically complex projects covering systems engineering, testing , manufacture and quality
Responsibilities of Chief Engineer – Mechanical
Technical authority for the product – Responsible for documentation releases including drawing packs , specifications , reports
Key technical interface to senior management , commercial , programme management , system integrators , partner organisation's and customers including preparing and presenting design review packs at cross–functional project design reviews and gates
Resolution of technical conflicts, risk mitigation and problem resolution
Technically lead the project team to ensure success across all work packages and disciplines
Own and manage the overall technical , cost and quality risk portfolio for the project
Ensure the project structure , project plan and team are adequate to achieve deliverables in conjunction with project manager
Drive the analysis and test capability required to verify the design
Requirements for Chief Engineer – Mechanical
Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent higher–level engineering qualification
Significant experience in a similar position of responsibility with a successful career history as a mechanical engineer ideally having operated in one or more of the following sectors: automotive , aerospace , power generation , white–goods or similar
Expertise high temperature mechanical systems and products utilising mechanics , thermodynamics , fluid dynamics , heat transfer , and materials engineering knowledge
Excellent understanding of design risk analysis and mitigation tools such as DFMEA and / or DRBFM
Authority on 3D CAD design, detail drafting & checking, GD&T and product data management
Excellent understanding of small batch and series production manufacturing and assembly processes
