As a Senior Advisory Lawyer, you will be providing legal advice, guidance, direction, and instructions to support proportionate and risk–based decision–making in relation to information and commercial law issues. You will take a proactive approach to advise on the exercise of statutory powers, keep up to date with changes to case law and help to ensure the GDC's processes reflect best practice and the GDC's regulatory strategy.

About you

The successful candidate will be a qualified and practising solicitor or barrister or ILEX qualified. You will have significant post qualification experience advising on a range of commercial law issues, with demonstrable experience of advising on the Public Contract Regulations 2015 and GDPR issues a particular advantage. In addition to your professional experience, you will have:

  • Excellent legal analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex legal issues and present legally sound, risk–based and proportionate advice and instructions.
  • Proven ability to identify, manage and escalate risk, within established organisational risk frameworks.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage competing priorities, working flexibly with colleagues and clients to manage fluctuating workloads.
  • Excellent drafting skills, including experience of translating complex legal concepts to clear, user–friendly guidance for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to create strong working relationships at all levels of the GDC and with external stakeholders, ensuring trust and confidence in the advice provided.
  • Commitment to the principles of equality and diversity.
