Income Protection SchemeWhat will you be doing?
You'll take the operational reigns for one of UK's largest cross–dock operations, ensuring it's delivering outstanding service levels, continually improving, and adopting innovative new products and technologies. The big decisions will sit with you and you'll lead a team of 6 direct reports and a total workforce of 200, setting the expectations around performance and quality. You'll work closely with the board on strategic initiatives to drive the business forward – you won't be coming into a business where everything is already done, there is plenty of scope to influence change and make improvements – the business is growing at pace so needs it's operation to be able to cope with increased volume and demands. Development and mentoring of people is a key focus of this business. You'll be expected to take personal responsibility for coaching and developing your team, ensuring you are building a pipeline of succession. Culture and attitude is vital to the success of this organisation and that is driven from the top, namely you as far as operations is concerned.
Who will you be doing it for?
This particular business are a highly profitable, well established logistics business that have seen consistent growth over the last 7 years. They are a people focused business who believe in offering outstanding levels of customer service, in fact it's one of the main things that sets them apart in a highly competitive market. They work out of a modern hub and office facilities and offer a genuinely progressive environment, as evidenced by the fact that this role has come about due to internal promotion. There is a lot going on with this business at the moment, it really is a great time to be joining them in a highly influential senior role.
What do I need to bring to the party?
It's expected that in order to succeed in this role you'll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills & experience:
A proven background of successfully leading large logistics/warehouse operations that deliver profitable, efficient and effective services that delight the customer
If you happen to have done the above in a cross–dock environment that would be highly advantageous but isn't essential
You'll be a naturally people focused person, someone who understands the benefits of building great relationships and who really enjoys coaching, mentoring and inspiring their teams, seeing them evolve and grow in terms of capability
Experience of establishing current state, identifying improvements/changes required and then developing a strategic roadmap for delivery of those changes
Willing, and able, to both work with the Board but also be hands on at an operational level in the early days and stay closely connected to it in the longer termIf this role sounds like a bit of you, apply with a copy of your CV, or your LinkedIn profile, or drop us a line to discuss in more detail. Every application is reviewed by a person and everyone will get a response, it's the least you deserve.
