L3Harris is currently recruiting for the exciting opportunity of Systems Engineer to join their busy team in Portchester!
Salary: Dependent on Experience
We are recruiting for a Systems Engineers to join our growing team, working throughout project lifecycles in both commercial and defence markets. This role is suited to a self–starting individual who will thrive working with only high levels of supervision, planning their work effectively to meet project needs.
You will be co–ordinating cross–functional teams within a matrix organisation to help specify, develop and prove complex systems that meet our customer's requirements. Supporting bid & proposal activities, helping to develop customer requirements, designing solution architectures and detailing high– level work breakdown structures to deliver compliant solutions.
This is a challenging role within an extremely interesting and high growth area of technology!
Systems Engineer Duties:
Capturing and managing internal and external customer requirements.
Coordinating and working with cross–functional teams to develop and define system architectures and interfaces.
Planning, coordinating and/or carrying–out integration, commissioning, verification, validation and qualification activities.
Negotiating acceptance of project deliverables or products with internal or external customers.
Identifying, collating and reporting programme and technical risks to the relevant stakeholders.
Acting as named Technical Authority for assigned products and projects.
Participating in, and where appropriate chairing, project gate reviews to determine pass/fail criteria on milestones throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Interacting with the wider L3Harris ASV engineering teams both in the UK and worldwide, to develop optimal solutions to meet both engineering requirements and business needs.
Providing technical support to Sales and Business Development activities including solution development, risk identification and task estimation.
Working in accordance with departmental policies, processes, procedures using provided templates where appropriate.
Promoting a Systems Engineering approach across the business including, but not limited to, requirement driven design, effective configuration management and both security and safety by default and by design
Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of the Systems Engineering elements within L3Harris ASV's Business Management System (BMS) including policies, processes, procedures, templates and forms.
Contribute to the quality assurance of technical deliverables through enhancements to processes and procedures, assist in the promulgation of these, undertake technical investigations and audit compliance where required throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Systems Engineer Requirements:
Management of technical and non–technical requirements and specifications
Planning and carrying out integration, verification, validation and qualification activities
Working with architectural definitions and interface specifications
Technical planning and management
Working within cross–functional teams
Carrying out technical analysis
Working within a formal engineering project lifecycle
Authoring of formal technical reports and documentation
Desirable Experience:
Design or technical authority role for projects or products
Model Based Systems Engineering
Familiarity with high reliability or safety systems
Familiarity with system security design
Support to bids and proposals including customer requirement capture and derivation and task estimation
Contribution to, or chairing of, lifecycle gate reviews
Formal management of technical risks
Familiarity with working towards, and qualifying systems against, both commercial and military standards including, but not limited to, electromagnetic compatibility and environmental
Working within both a waterfall and Agile project management environment
