The People Operations team is looking to recruit a Lead People Partner to Partner with the organisation on all people matters helping ensure we have the right people in the right roles who are able to perform at their peak ability to enable Wellcome to deliver its strategic objectives

The Lead people Partner will be responsible for:

  • SLT/ELT stakeholder management & business engagement providing thought leadership, thought–provoking & coaching as appropriate (including being member of SLT teams)
  • Drive and be responsible for resource planning activity for client group, understanding all proposed people changes for both staff and contractor populations, & providing challenge where appropriate; linked to finance budgeting/planning process
  • Development & delivery of client group(s) people plans aligned to business needs and Wellcome people strategy
  • Understand business drivers and priorities to add value to the client group agenda recognising and challenging commercial value of activities as appropriate, and turning ambiguous circumstances into clearly defined outcomes
  • Influencing the client group senior teams to embed the Wellcome cultural shifts, and maximise employee engagement
  • Coach managers to drive a strong performance culture ensuring approaches are aligned with Wellcome values and behaviours
  • Improve people management capability across the Wellcome executive and senior teams, through direct and indirect activity guiding leaders to ultimately know how and when to make the right people decisions without needing direct people team support
  • Oversight of successful implementation & embedding of People & Business strategic deliverables
  • Act as lead PP on key strategic People projects/client group projects/BAU activity, ensuring design & delivery of the required outputs will effectively land and embed across the whole of Wellcome
  • Input into complex ER decision making alongside SLT/ELT member(s)
  • Be confident and comfortable with utilisation data analytics to identify issues and drive commercial solutions and results
  • Work collaboratively with People Operations colleagues to identify consistent challenges and themes across the organisation and devise strategic, commercial solutions to enhance the service to senior, executive and overall employee experience
  • Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
  • Exercise cost control and manage expenditure to work within the agreed operating budget

Experience & Skills

  • Significant People Partnering experience at Executive/Senior Team level
  • Expertise in developing and delivering People Strategies for client groups aligned to an organisational wider People strategy
  • Experience in effectively working in a People Partner role supported by a People Service Desk and centralised Employee Relations
  • Talent management & resource planning expertise
  • Organisational/change management experience including but not limited to OD design, OD implementation, TUPE and exit management
  • Extensive experience working effectively with People Centres of Excellence to deliver and embed key strategic people projects into the organisation
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills and experience
  • Previous experience of presenting HR business cases and presentations to senior teams
  • Solid understanding of employee metrics and people data with the ability to analyse and manipulate for management reporting
  • Good knowledge of diversity and inclusion related legislation and best practice, ensuring D&I considerations are central to all support provided to the organisation

  • CIPD/Degree

Salary: Circa GBP66,000
