Carbon60 are currently recruiting for a Head of Contract Management to work for our client; one of the UK's leading renewable Energy organisations responsible for the construction of major power plants and renewable energy assets throughout the UK.

You will be responsible for managing a team of Contract Managers who are responsible for the commercial management of a number of new build renewable energy & power plants under construction throughout the UK. This includes all commercial aspects and inputs from the legal team.

The contracts management team is responsible for supporting the business with construction contracts for the development and maintenance of its assets in order to deliver the business's targets. This will involve the setting up and management of construction contracts for the project delivery teams to include major Civils and Process contracts.

The Role:

Key Activities:

Establishing contracting strategies, drafting contracts, commercial & tender negotiations, executing contracts, reviewing security packages, oversight and governance of contract administration, advising on claims and variations, dispute avoidance and resolution and provision of information and reports to Senior Executives and the Board.

Managerial:

Managing and developing a national team of Senior Contracts Managers and all commercial aspects of new build construction contracts.
Provide direction and accountability for Contract Management activities supporting the project delivery managers and Heads of Function as required.
Manage key internal and external stakeholders and ensure they are suitably informed in a timely manner.
Managing key supplier/contractor relationships at a senior level.
Actively engaging and liaising with team members, internal customers and management at all levels challenging for change to ensure that contract management procedures are developed through continuous process.Technical:

Taking a lead in developing project specific contracting strategies giving consideration to all risks and opportunities and aligned to the Boards requirements.
Overseeing the drafting of contracts and special and amended conditions using industry forms of contract where possible (NEC4, IChemE, JCT etc.).
Providing Guidance and assisting with tendering and commercial negotiations.
Review of tender returns and preparation of contracts for execution. Specifically advising on the contracting entities (Single entity, JV, J&S Liability etc.) and the suitability of the proposed contracting structure.
Reviewing and negotiation of security packages (PCGs, bonds, collateral warranties, insurances).
Provide oversight, governance and advice on the management and administration of contracts.
Championing the use of the ECMS (Electronic Contract Management System) and working with the provider to maintain and develop the system ensuring it is fit for its intended purpose.
Provide advice and assistance with the assessment and resolution of contractual claims and variations as and when they arise.What we are looking for:

Candidates educated to Degree level and qualified with a background in Quantity Surveying, or a Masters (MBA/MSc or LLM) in Law or Construction Management.
Professional Chartered status either (RICS, CIOB, CICES, CILEx, CIArb).
10 Years+ experience in leading Contract Management ideally on large scale Process and Power Plants within the UK.
Experience of Line management / Portfolio Management.
Current UK Driving Licence.The Package:

The position is offered on a permanent staff basis with an excellent salary package circa GBP85k + 25% annual bonus, plus either a Company Car / Car allowance and benefits package.

The position is a strategic & client facing role predominantly working remotely either from home or from any of our clients regional offices throughout the UK. The position will also involve regular travel across the UK with attendance at head office / client / contractor site meetings as and when required.
