My Client, a Leader in the Energy and Carbon Zero sector, is looking to appoint a Director of Housing, this is a Permanent role with fantastic career progression to the Operational Board.

You will mainly be working from home but a presence in the London office will be required on a flexible basis.

The client is looking for a Senior Engineer / Asset management professional with expertise in large scale energy efficiency or regeneration programmes in Social Housing. Supporting the clients unique proposition connecting programmes to finance with responsibility for building the team and expanding sales.

The client is a Technology company with a platform that enables social housing landlords to act with confidence and speed towards the goal of carbon net zero. They empower social landlords and technical consultants to configure and finance large scale energy improvement projects.

The client requires a senior commercial professional to build, manage and grow their unique proposition for social landlords, undertaking business development and account management while strengthening their technical partnerships. This will require deep subject matter expertise and strong relationships fostered across the industry, as well as being an individual who embraces innovation – both strategically and operationally.

They are putting software in a place it has not been before, linking decarbonisation projects to insurance and finance so as to increase the speed and volume of activity that will prevent global warming and improve living conditions. Through the unique application of data driven engineering, risk analytics and insurance, the platform bridges between energy management and risk management.

This is a young and dynamic company with big ambitions who are already working on a number of large scale energy improvement projects with G15 social landlords. Their position in the market has been further strengthened through investment from a global financial institution, allowing them to scale up their unique product and team.

Essential Skills & Experience

Experience from working within or for a Housing Association in a principal role, likely in asset management with regeneration experience, or in a main / framework contractor or technical or project management advisory role.
Degree or equivalent in either engineering (Structural or M&E) or RICS qualification with deep experience of implementation and procurement in the Housing Association sector.
5 year's experience in a commercial role relating to the housing and energy efficiency space. Expert project management knowledge including contracting and pricing of regeneration and energy efficiency projects.
Candidate will need to have strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Zero Carbon legislation.
Expert knowledge of energy efficiency and retrofit works, with strong technical skills relating to the built environment generally.
Knowledge and experience of distributed energy resource projects will be well received as many projects include solar and storage which have the possibility of offering incremental revenue for all stakeholders through the platform.
Leadership experience and astute management skills including managing, training and developing all reporting staff, with experience of building strong and efficient teams with high employee satisfaction.
Financial acumen and high level understanding of different forms of external financing and government grants
Experience of budget ownership and management and highly developed reporting skills.
Experience of Operation & Maintenance cycles and associated risk management.
Current and valid UK driving licenceWhat the role involves:

The client is scaling up their UK presence and team and are now seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Housing to be accountable for the management and successful execution of their UK Social Housing pipeline and business area objectives. Client management and a focus on high project conversion is at the core of the commercial team and of this role.

The clients wider team has expertise in engineering, financing, technology and insurance. The Director of Housing will manage a multicompetence team of sales executives, analysts and project managers, and you will have significant autonomy in recruitment. This team, together with the clients partner network of technical consultants and technology providers, will deliver sales and revenue by enabling execution of large scale projects and programmes for net zero transition.

This role will cement client relationships with various functions within the Housing Association including asset management and analysts, sustainability officers, M&E, compliance and resident liaison often overseen throughout by the CFO's office. Close collaboration is key in order to convey and ensure client value and drive development towards project conversion and revenue generation.

The business model generates revenue from software licence and commission before during and after project execution. Projects are delivered through the deployment of funded project vehicles. Ahead of such deployment the team will work closely with the Housing Association supporting data collection, through to business case development, procurement and structuring to achieve insured savings and fully funded works. A primary KPI for this role is to expedite the sales cycle from initial engagement to first project launch followed by converting further projects within the client portfolio.

Your team will develop and execute on efficient processes and clear work streams to ensure a high level of client satisfaction from initial interaction to completion of works, ensuring high client retention and upsell. Navigating conversations and liaising with other teams and parties both internally and externally is a key requirement to ensure high quality process, long lasting client relationship and sales and revenue generation.

You will manage and prepare sales and budget reports and contribute to the development of the UK social housing pipeline and strategy. You will work with the marketing team and take responsibility for attending and chairing the necessary market forums for sales and product development. You will report to and be invited to participate in meetings with the Operational Board, responsible for reporting against strategy and budget.
