Job Description

Due to growth, we're looking to appoint a Deputy Chief of Staff in a new role to the business, with the purpose of supporting our Chief of Staff and Chief Executive Officer in the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone in a role such as a policy advisor, junior consultant or project implementation role to join us to draw together organisational–wide strategic and operational planning and risk management.

You'll have the opportunity to advise on strategy, lead on the creation, updating and running of our company roadmap, drawing on roadmaps from the various business units to provide an overarching view for the organisation.

You'll draw on management information, OKRs, financial information, and broader company data and use this to report into the Chief of Staff & rest of the Executive Leadership Team, drive implementation in priority areas for the organisation and unblock challenges. You'll lead the centralisation of multiple reporting streams, consolidate information of the components of projects across the portfolio (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, issues and quality) and compile and update the company risk register and support projects as needed including preparing business cases for projects and programmes.

Skills & Experience for Success

We anticipate that the ideal candidate will:

– Have a proven track record of planning, executing, controlling and closing projects and the ability to manage multiple strands of a portfolio simultaneously with minimal supervision
– Have excellent written communication skills for reports and presentations (including drafting concise and clear memos, and preparing simple high end presentations)
– Have developed excellent intellectual and oral communication skills e.g. synthesising actions and next steps from complex discussions
– Have experience of monitoring both delivery and benefit realisation
– Have the ability to competently mediate disagreements between internal and external senior stakeholders and negotiate agreeable resolutions
– Have strong skills in creating and maintaining project and programme plans, including risks, actions, issues, dependencies
– Be able to turn ambiguity into structure and practical deliverables
– Be highly efficient in resource planning and tasks assignment
– Have knowledge of benefits and dependency mapping, risk management and resource planning
