Director of Operations and Compliance

37 hours per week

c. £50,000 per annum

Treetops Hospice are currently looking for a Director of Operations and Compliance to join us in Risley. You will join us on a full–time, permanent basis and in return, will receive a salary of c. £50,000 per annum.

Treetops Hospice Care provides nursing care and emotional support for anyone affected by life–limiting illness or bereavement in Southern Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire. Therapeutic Services delivers counselling and emotional support, and complementary therapy to people of all ages dealing with bereavement or life–limiting illness.

About the Director of Operations and Compliance role:
You will support the Chief Executive by reviewing and developing the hospice’s operational strategy by planning the future development of operational support functions: Facilities, Data Management, IT and Compliance and to ensure that future and daily operations of the hospice are well–coordinated and effective by managing its procedures and coaching the support services supervisor.

Key responsibilities of our Director of Operations and Compliance:

– Act as the Health and Safety Responsible Person for the organisation and co–ordinate all aspects of the management of Health and Safety on behalf of the organisation
– Oversee and support the Facilities Supervisor in the performance of their role, with specific regard to the maintenance and development of Treetop’s buildings, grounds, equipment and facilities
– Oversee and support the Executive Assistant in the performance of their role with specific regard to ensuring that the organisation’s governance and articles of memorandum are observed and compliant
– Regularly review arrangements for IT support to ensure it comprehensively meets the hospice’s needs, is futureproofed and cost effective
– Plan and manage the production of management information and reports, both routine and bespoke, ensuring that the information is timely and accurate and interpreted correctly by effectively overseeing the work of data analysts
 

Our Ideal Director of Operations and Compliance:

– Educated to degree standard in a relevant discipline (facilities management, project management, or similar)
– Relevant senior management experience in Estate and Facilities Management or in a related field with a demonstrably successful track record
– Understanding, experience and knowledge of project management practice in relation to a variety of service areas
– Strength and quality of leadership and the personal skills required to develop and lead an effective and well–motivated, multi–disciplinary and multitask team will be essential with proven experience of managing a team and can demonstrate delivery of effective outcomes and results
– Broad experience both in the preparation and control of development projects and in managing facility operations and maintenance services, with a sound understanding of the legal and financial aspects of major projects and transactions
– High level strategic planning and organisational skills, including forward planning and forecasting will be required together with the ability to respond appropriately to user demands and expectations
– Experience of managing and delivering large scale contracts with experience of budget setting, monitoring and implementing financial controls
– A track record of working in and supporting partnerships with a wide range of internal and external bodies including the private and voluntary sectors
– Proven experience of managing contractors, developing successful relationships and achieving challenging targets and objectives
– Experience of working in a high pressure environment with tight and frequent deadlines
– Ability to deal with emergency situations and to formulate effective responses on the basis of sound technical knowledge
– A high level of experience in developing organisational IT infrastructure including the management of third party support contracts
