Our client Scottish Power are seeking a Control Systems Engineer for a minimum 12 month contract which will be based at Whitelee Wind Farm.
Accountability
The engineer will be responsible for:
* Resolution and confirmation of questions / issues relating to the SCADA system from
construction, field operations and control centre.
* Engineering of purchases, and purchases of the necessary SCADA equipment.
* Costing of equipment and software to support budget forecasting.
* Provision and installation of equipment and its respective commissioning
* Coordination of commissioning / operational works between various stakeholders across the business.
* Interfacing directly with contractors to provide technical assistance related to SCADA and associated control systems.
* Attending FATs, SATs on site or at contractor premises.
* Write Test Protocols to validate new / modified SCADA works.
* Define requirements for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the control and communication system.
* Provide training on the SCADA system to operations teams.
* Attend meetings with stakeholders when required.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge in communication systems related to Protection and Networking Management Systems for the electrical network.
* Knowledge of networks (TCP/IP) and communication links is essential.
* Experience accessing substations (H&S knowledge).
* Availability for travelling all around UK and abroad to visit SPR assets if required.
* Experience in Control Systems commissioning.
* Experience in designing, commissioning and testing SCADA systems is essential.
* Experience with PLC systems is desirable.
* Knowledge of control loops and regulation and experience with simulation tools is desired.
* Experience with databases, MSSQL, ORACLE. Programming skills (Visual C++, .Net) are desirable.
* Some exposure to the energy sector is required, substation or generation plants, active power and voltage regulation.
* Knowledge of communication protocols, OPC, IEC(phone number removed)–1 (MMS), IEC(phone number removed)–104, MODBUS , SNMP.
* Good team player. She/he will have contacts with customers (in particular Scottish Power) and suppliers.
* Excellent communication skills.

*High level of IT skills, focusing on SCADA applications.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Self–motivation and willingness to learn.
*BSc,Electrical/Control Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
*Minimum 5 years experience in a Control System related role
