We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and forward–thinking HR Professional to head our HR department and people function while our Head of HR is on maternity leave. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Deputy Receiver General, you will manage a small but equally efficient and effective HR team and will ensure that the number of ongoing projects we have continues to move forward.

You will be responsible for driving the Abbey’s HR agenda and leading on the various HR processes. This is a mixed role, with both strategic and operational ‘hands–on’ elements. You will be used to leading at a senior level and will have experience in developing a positive, inclusive and engaging culture.

You will provide comprehensive HR strategic, advisory and support services to the Dean & Chapter for the paid staff and volunteers of Westminster Abbey, Westminster Abbey Choir School and Westminster Abbey Enterprises Ltd. You will help support the shape of the Abbey's employment culture to ensure it remains a wonderful place to work and provide strategic leadership on health and safety matters.

This is generally a full–time Monday to Friday office role; however, we are very open to discussions that might envisage some sort of flexible or hybrid working arrangement.

This post is open to all senior HR professionals with proven experience and a unique HR generalist skillset. You will be working in an exclusive and prestigious environment, not just because of the Abbey’s incredible history but also because of our talented, committed, dynamic and warm colleagues.

To thrive in this environment, you will need to be highly motivated, goal orientated, resilient and committed to the Abbey’s continuous improvement and development.

For an informal conversation about this post, please call Temi Olusola (Phone number available on Westminster Abbey website). Application Packs are available from the Westminster Abbey website.

Your application must be received no later than noon on Monday 21 June 2021.

Interviews will be held on Monday 28 June 2021 (first round) and Wednesday 7 July 2021 (second stage). The first stage will include a pre–prepared exercise.

Westminster Abbey is an equal opportunities employer and has recognised that it needs to strengthen the diversity of its leadership, so we are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are from a BAME background and can bring diversity of thought to our team.

Westminster Abbey is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk. To prevent them from harm, we undertake appropriate checks (including, for this role, a basic level of criminal record check) and require them to complete relevant safeguarding training.
