Orbit is a fantastic business and one that's really going places.

Orbit was formed in 1967 with the aim of providing good–quality housing for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy their own home.

Over 50 years later, we're one of the leading housing providers in the UK. Our services have diversified, our housing portfolio has expanded, and our reputation as an innovator within our sector has grown. But one thing that has never changed. Our belief in people and what they can achieve.

Your role at Orbit.

It takes an exceptional person to work in a place that strives for excellence, demands courage and pushes boundaries to get the right service for our customers. Is that you?

Within our multi award winning department we look after 46,000 homes across a geography covering the Midlands, South and East of the UK. With over 100,000 residents living in our properties, we manage a network of contractors that deliver over 120,000 repairs, 50,000 servicing checks and deliver of GBP40m of investment into our homes every year. However, we do not intend to stand still and have targeted our responsive repairs service as next in line for transformative change.

The Head of Property Repairs will therefore, play a major part in the transformation of our responsive repairs service as set out in our new corporate strategy 'Orbit 2025'. The postholder will strategically develop and operationally drive the delivery of a new customer–centric, right first time, value for money service, also creating a continuous improvement culture that keeps the service fit for future purpose.

The role is also part of a wider Property Operations senior management team (SMT) and as such, will regularly be required to support the development of cross–functional strategies and operational plans. This will include the development of strong and effective relationships both within Property Operations and across the wider Orbit family. Implementing specific corporate initiatives and representing the team/organisation externally, will also be a feature of the role.

The Head of Property Repairs will ensure that services are delivered within a robust control environment, ensuring compliance with policy, procedure and regulatory standards and lead the effective management of people and financial resources to ensure that the service achieves and maintains value for money.

What will help you make a difference.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, alternatively hold a relevant professional qualification (RICS, MCIOB or similar) and be able to demonstrate extensive experience and knowledge in a relevant role.

You will demonstrate first class knowledge of leading responsive repairs services within a housing setting, to include contract delivery, regulation, legislation and best practice with evidence of leading successful transformational and business change initiatives within a customer facing environment.

You will have experience managing internal and external stakeholders, partners, and contractors with the ability to engage, influence and steer commercial, operational, and strategic decisions with proven results.
