Financial Controller - Private Equity Real Estate - OUR CLIENT is a multinational, private equity real estate and infrastructure firm, with a proven track record of successful fund management and joint-ventures with institutional investment partners. They are currently looking to hire a Financial Controller to join their top-performing, close-knit team and take on a varied role encompassing accounting and tax compliance.

THE ROLE: Reporting directly to the CEO - as the Financial Controller, your duties will include (but will not be limited to) the following:
  • Management of VAT returns of UK and Lux entities, for the review of external accountants.
  • Preparation of management accounts and budgets on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for managing cashflow and reporting on cashflow on a quarterly basis.
  • Handling the bookkeeping processes, including reconciliations, data entry, payments, invoice generation, and payables.
  • Overseeing annual accounts for audited / unaudited processes for UK and Lux Real Estate projects.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly budgets, including liquidity statements.
  • Preparation of quarterly investor distribution waterfalls.
  • Responsible for coordinating distribution payments.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all Accounting and Tax service providers and stakeholders.
  • Liaising with debt facility agents, auditors, property managers, and offshore administrators to ensure accurate and timely project reporting.
  • Carrying out bank covenant reporting for Real Estate projects.
  • Reviewing and approving monthly staff expense claims. Overseeing invoices, and the approval system for UK and European project entities.
  • Preparation of P11D's and EC sales list.
  • Auditing offshore entities' management accounts.
  • Carrying out payroll functions, including journal posting and payment maintenance.
  • Producing quarterly investor reports on portfolio performance, including KPIs and non-financial activities.
  • Carrying out OPEX and CAPEX reviews.
  • Auditing information received from property managers, safeguarding compliance with management and operating agreements.
  • Providing transactions support to the deal team, including acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, and restricting.
  • Safeguarding compliancy with all local statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements.
  • Monitoring and management of tax filings/ tax compliance for income/ corporate tax, withholding tax, CGT, VAT and FATCA/ CRS.


The Person: To apply, you MUST be a Chartered Accountant (big 4 preferred but ACCA / ACA with strong pedigree considered) and have a MINIMUM of 3 years' post-qualification experience within Real Estate / Infrastructure. Successful applicants will possess experience of IFRS / Lux GAAP exposure and solid Excel skills (*financial model and complex formulas understanding) and a good understanding of financial statements as well as transactional accounting and Tax / VAT. Additionally, candidates will be effective communicators (both written and verbal), and able to communicate across all levels of the organisation. They will also have financial modelling experience, and confidence in handling complex numerical data.
