Who are we looking for?

Burton & South Derbyshire College is seeking a Director of Curriculum to join its College Management Team. The College delivers a wide range of technical, vocational and professional education programmes from entry levels right through to higher education, utilising an extensive range of employer relationships.

BSDC is a medium general further education College, with two campuses, and aspires to become a vibrant and outstanding, a dynamic global College. The College's latest Ofsted inspection was rated good, alongside achieving an overall good financial health score.

The Director of Curriculum role will report into the Vice Principal & Executive Director for curriculum and will have the responsibility for a number of vocational curriculum areas which includes motor vehicle, fabrication & welding, computing, hospitality, tourism and events, and hair & beauty. The role will also include the overseeing of a number of learner led realistic working environments, including the College's highly successful Innovations Hair & Beauty Salon, and the Mulberry Bistro and The Mulberry Fine Dining Restaurant.

Whilst experiences within one or more of these vocational areas would be advantageous it is not essential. The Director of Curriculum will be expected to be able to lead, motivate and inspire experienced vocational curriculum teams to design, plan and implement a curriculum which meets the local and national skills priorities and that engages learners to achieve their maximum potential.

The successful candidate will be innovative, be able to think strategically alongside overseeing the implementation of day–to–day operational matters, paying attention to detail but never losing sight of the bigger picture.

The College is seeking applicants from individuals with a successful background and track record in delivering high quality education within vocational settings and those which are able to embrace the College's core values to help achieve its medium– and long–term adaptive plan.
