Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Systems Engineer on a permanent yet flexible basis; our custom working policy gives employees the option to work on–site or remotely to balance both personal and business needs.

The Lead Systems Engineer will need to have experience of being a product owner and familiar with sensor systems and architecture design. The Lead Systems Engineer should have significant experience of being accountable for design decisions and development prioritisation, as well as leading teams to deliver user–centric software systems within an agile development life–cycle.

The Lead Systems Engineer will have extensive experience of full life–cycle systems engineering, with key focus on architecture design, requirements elicitation, definition and decomposition, as well as evidence–based compliance to achieve certification and acceptance by internal and external assessors. The role inherently requires a strong aptitude for problem solving and an ability to understand complex interdependencies, as well as managing potentially conflicting inputs from multiple stakeholder groups.

This Lead Systems Engineer role is within the Integrated Mission Solutions business group and will focus on developing a new software framework architecture to underpin the desktop programming and analysis tool–sets that provide users with the ability to configure sensor systems with mission–specific capabilities; this ability allows aircraft to more effectively identify and counter threats, as well as providing an improved understanding of detected threat systems through mission analysis to further enhance future mission effectiveness and platform survivability.
