Cobham Mission Systems has an exciting role for a Systems Engineer to develop new systems and modifications on our existing systems.
Initially, this role will be within the Air to Air refuelling business team where you will be working within a multidisciplinary team to implement modifications onto the existing fleet of systems. For this position, you will be responsible for technical support including the planning and execute of all stages of lifecycle management relating to integration, development, verification and validation in the discipline area. You will convert customer requirements to define, analyse and inform the total system solution. You will also be expected to engage with suppliers and customers to ensure the solution meets expectations.
This role is based from Wimborne, Dorset.
We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as working remotely with attendance on site on an agreed basis as required.
As a Systems Engineer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Apply standard engineering principles to a variety of well–defined problems of various complexity
* Engage with stakeholders (both internal and external) to identify requirements, ensure compliance with agreed processes and achievement of project objectives.
* Be responsible for the generation, monitoring and verification of the system requirements, including compliance with legislative & regulatory requirements.
* Support the generation of project, requirement and verification plans.
* Generation, review and approval of system development, verification and validation documentation.
* Conduct systematic studies to analyse and inform system integration dependencies, behaviours and outputs.
* Support the definition and agreement of system integration methodology and planning with disciplines, customers, and suppliers.
* Support to system level investigations and generate, review, and approve change, conformance and failure documentation, maintaining perspective on the system requirements.
* Manage engineering project risks and opportunities that may have a direct / indirect effect on the technical delivery of the system or product.
* Provide support in all areas of the system lifecycle and delivering the system solution.
As a Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:
* Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent appropriate experience.
* Design knowledge of developing Aerospace and Military fuel and/or mechanical systems.
* Knowledge of Aeronautical and Systems standards, specifications, guidelines and certification.
* Proven experience in planning and developing systems and requirements.
* Proven experience in requirements capture, break down and management using industry requirements management tools.
* Experience performing analyses and test activities to develop solutions.
* Experience in integration of lower level systems, creating verification evidence and proving compliance through analysis and test results.
* An understanding as to the validation and certification activities required by military and civil customers and agencies. Experience supporting flight tests would be advantageous.
* Experience in liaising with customers and suppliers.
