Business Analyst (BA) – Transaction Monitoring

Length of Contract: 6 months

This role is to help support the FCC Transformation Programme delivering across an array of possible different areas. When looking at CVs, if an individual shows strong skillset in one particular area then we would focus on these skills. We are looking for individuals who have strong skills and demonstrative experience in BA roles supporting financial crime compliance and/or operations.

Background:

  • The business requires a seasoned and experienced Business Analyst (BA) to help deliver Project 3 (Future 1st Line Target Operating Model), within its wider Financial Crime Transformation Programme, which also includes projects relating to the improvement and stabilisation of a 2nd Line enterprise–wide financial crime operating model (Project 1) and financial crime remediation (Project 2).
  • Project 3 in Financial Crime Transformation Programme is intended to provide the business with a comprehensive enterprise–wide operating model for the prevention of financial crime. This will include a clear definition of roles and responsibilities relating to financial crime within the 1st line of defence, as well as a financial crime data model and key design decisions associated with technology and outsourcing.
  • Project 3 will also encompass the phased transfer of existing 2nd line activities to the 1st line where appropriate (e.g. due diligence, alert–handling), as well as defining BAU process handshakes between the 1st and 2nd lines.
  • The role reports into the Project 3 PM, who is responsible for overall Project 3 delivery. The business sponsors include the Group Director of Financial Crime Compliance and COOs.
  • The BA will work on the discovery phase (phase 1) of the Non–Customer FCC Controls workstream and is required to analyse the FCC Controls currently in place and identify the processes and procedure to oversea and manage financial crime risk (AML, ABC, Tax Evasion, Counter–Terrorism Financing) for non–customer (Associated Party) relationships.
  • The BA will be joining an already established project that has an approved budget and defined reporting requirements. Delivery plans have been agreed and milestones baselined with the Transformation Office.

Key responsibilities – BA:

  • Responsibilities will also include some or all of the below and will be expected to manage and develop deliverables that will include the following:
  • Work with lines of businesses to understand & document the current state for managing financial crime risk for non–customer relationships i.e. document the as–is control environment in relation to associated party relationships, which includes but is not limited to: Introducers, Service Providers, Strategic Transactions (M&A / Joint Ventures), G&H, Sponsorships, Employment & Work Opportunities.
  • Business Requirements for solutions to address missing or deficient controls to mitigate associated party risk – capture, create and manage business requirements and documentation of use cases; working extensively with the lines of business, as required, to provide relevant support towards the creation of functional and non–functional requirements.
  • Work to FCC to identify & document processes & procedures required to oversee & manage financial crime activities for Non–Customers (Associated Parties) in the 1st line
  • Process Maps – analyse, document and develop business process maps/models to reflect current and desired future state operations to incorporate process improvements.
  • Identify and develop design initiatives to drive alignment with FCC Policies and Standards

Experience, Skills & Knowledge – BA:

The ideal candidate would demonstrate proven skills in areas such as – competent in business analysis planning; requirements life cycle management; strategy/change analysis; requirements gathering and analysis; solution evaluation and development; requirements analysis and design; process and procedure documentation; developing business cases; supporting business change; software tools implementation.

  • Experience of capturing, analysing and documenting business requirements through workshops, from existing documentation, interviews with people/SMEs etc.
  • Experience of process modelling, analysis, improvement and documentation.
  • Experience of working in a change programme to implement a new target operating model and related organisational change.
  • Experience in designing a to–be process where there isn't a well defined as–is process.
  • Experience of formulating solutions for identified gaps, where required by gathering information from SMEs in the team.
  • Experience of documenting operating procedures
  • Ability to review and interpret regulations/legislation and identify gaps in existing processes
  • Analytical approach with good data analysis and problem–solving skills
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Experience in and ability to navigate the organisation and work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Financial Crime regulations or prior experience of working in Financial Crime is a plus.
