Associate Director of Corporate Governance
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust
Salary – AfC – Band 8d (GBP73,936 – GBP86,687)

In October 2020 Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust merged with The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to form University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD). Bringing together these two hospital trusts will enable significant opportunities and benefits for patient care. As well as delivering excellent hospital services we also provide a range of specialist services including medical and clinical oncology, a–state–of–the–art cardiology unit and an award winning orthopaedic service.

As a Trust our values define who we are and are embedded into every aspect of our organisation. We pride ourselves on being a caring, compassionate and inclusive organisation, placing the interests of staff and patients first. We are fostering a culture of continuous improvement and in partnership with Bournemouth University we are developing our leadership. We are collaborative in our thinking and play a key role in the 'Our Dorset' Integrated Care System, working with our partners to further improve outcomes for our population.

We now embark on the process to appoint an Associate Director of Corporate Governance within the Trust. This will be an exciting time to join UHD, as we move forward with our ambitious programme of transformation. This includes a three year strategy to bring together two 'Good' organisations into one 'Outstanding' organisation and a large scale estates programme which will see the Trust separate emergency and planned care across our sites.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and the Trust Chair you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality, efficient and cost–effective corporate governance services for the Trust. You will assist in managing an effective interface between the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors, ensuring supportive relationships are developed and maintained. You will facilitate effective Board meetings and sub–committees and ensure the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors receive appropriate levels of assurance and are sighted of key risks with openness and transparency.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual who can embed sound governance policies and procedures within a new organisation. You will need to have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility with colleagues. You will also be able to build a high performing team, capable of supporting the Trust in our objective of being recognised as an outstanding organisation.

Most importantly, you will be an individual who operates with passion and integrity, demonstrates an inclusive and collaborative leadership style and upholds values which are aligned to those of our Trust.
